We look back on an inspiring 43rd ESSO congress, with great talks and conversations! Leading experts showed compelling research on how Fluorescence Guided Surgery (FGS) improves patient outcomes. Adding FGS to the national guidelines for Sentinel Lymph Node (SLN) procedures in breast cancer and left-sided bowel anastomosis will be a logical next step, thanks to the research of Annemiek Doeksen, Denise Hilling and their teams. Stefan Koning showed promising research on Fluorescence-Guided breast reconstruction, potentially leading to even more standard implementation of FGS in clinical practise. Training of Healthcare professionals proves to be key element to transfer all good study results to the Operating Theatres to become beneficial to all surgical patients. ESSO Course on Fluorescence Guided Surgery We participate in the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) Course on Fluorescence Guided Surgery. It will be held on 6-7 June, 2024. Venue: LUMC Leiden. A few places are still available. Green Light Leiden is happy to welcome you. In this course participants will obtain a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals and state-of-the-art applications of fluorescence imaging of tumors (primary, metastases), sentinel lymph nodes, vital structures (bile ducts, ureters, nerves) and perfusion assessment of organs and tissues. Besides ‘traditional’ fluorescent dyes, participants will discover and work with novel antibody-/peptide-/nanobody-based targeted fluorescence-guided surgical navigation and will experience the possibilities and limitations of this intra-operative technique also in relation to open, laparoscopic and robotic approaches. #Fluorescentie #ICG #FGS #Surgical #
