Did you know that the Arc Bike II was MX3D’s first aluminium project? As more often we used a piece of art to develop a new skill. By now we have printed countless (industrial) projects with Aluminum. The design was produced by a generative design software to tailor fit the proportion of the rider’s body. The design was translated by MX3D’s #MetalXL software to robot instructions in order to print the frame within 24 hours. BMW Group showcases their advanced AM capabilities in the Metal Additive Manufacturing magazine, with the article “BMW Group: Laying the foundations for the application of metal Additive Manufacturing in the Automotive industry”. A very interesting read on how BMW Group invests in #MetalAM for #Automotive. We’re very proud that MX3D’s #M1 Metal AM System is highlighted in the article. BMW Group uses the M1 to maximise the potential of DED in automotive production. With #WAAM technology, BMW Group is able to lower emissions in the production process and lower the weight of the components. “With DED technology, BMW is taking the logical step towards large-format metal additive manufacturing. We are happy to share that we were asked to print ‘Later Love’, a sculpture by the Irish sculptor Rowan Gillespie from Clonlea Studios. It will be exhibited alongside other works at Clonlea Studios from the 18th of August. With MX3D’s #WAAM technology, #MetalXL and #M1 Metal AM System it is possible to print figurative work as bronze body sculptures. The sculptures were printed with full freedom of geometry and automated process. Can you believe the “Cucuyo” was placed at Pérez Art Museum (PAMM Miami), FL more than 7 years ago? The 317kg stainless steel structure is the first of its kind and now proves that form and design liberties found in 3D printing of small objects can be applied on an architectural scale. Bringing this innovative technology to the forefront of conversation, Berenblum Busch Architects (BBA), operator Verde, and the PAMM Museum served as early adopters and are playing a key role in bringing large-scale 3D printing to market. “It was a challenge to design a piece that was not only lightweight and easily disassembled for relocation, but also fully functional,” notes Claudia Busch, Founding Principal of BBA. “That is why we decided to work with MX3D on manufacturing this project.
