A bit late on this; our team's research was recently published on the cover of Advanced Materials. I find it particularly satisfying as it comes as a result of a wonderful, multi-year collaboration that brought together physicists, material scientists, nanotechnologists, and machine learning experts. We originally intended to develop MEMS technologies but ended up uncovering one of the strongest amorphous materials known to date. These kind of curveballs in research highlight the importance of interdisciplinary teams, pursuing 'side-quests', and the benefits of scientific exploration for high-tech applications. A big thanks to Minxing Xu, Dongil Shin, Paolo Sberna, Roald van der Kolk, Andrea Cupertino, and Miguel Bessa. Your hard work, dedication, and curiosity have made doing science a pleasure.
