NoPalm Ingredients employs a unique fermentation process using non-GMO proprietary yeasts combined with a patented low-capex technology. This process transforms upcycled, locally-sourced agri-food sidestreams, such as potato peels and whey permeate, into yeast oils. Feedback from customers indicates that NoPalm Ingredients’ oils are an ideal drop-in replacement for palm oil, requiring no recipe reformulation and achieving price parity. This is made possible by the use of agri-food sidestreams and an asset-light technology that is quick to scale. Additionally, the technology also boasts a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 99% decrease in land use compared to traditional palm oil production.

    𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐰𝐛𝐨𝐲𝐬! 💡 We’re thrilled to have successfully contributed to the development of an animal-free camembert cheese, using our NoPalm Ingredients yeast fat.  This product is an example of how innovative ingredients can open sustainable possibilities for the future of food. And as for the taste? Our alternative fat offers the needed solid fat content, which was once included in the tasty recipe of Those Vegan Cowboys cheese, resulting in a creamy mouthfeel and cheesy texture! Additionally, this alternative provides a natural butter-like color, eliminating the need for added colorants, and a neutral flavor, offering high flexibility for ripened foods like Camembert. 🧀 ✨ This collaboration with Those Vegan Cowboys is part of the PALM+ project, funded by the European Commission & Netherlands Enterprise Agency through an Eurostars grant. Next to Those Vegan Cowboys , we’re also collaborating closely with Flecks Brauhaus Technik GmbH, Loki Foods and University of Iceland (Háskóli Íslands), so stay tuned for more exciting news in the future.     The power of collaborating - A special visit from The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) 🤝 Last week, we had the honor of welcoming Abdeluheb Choho, Director-General of RVO, and Frank de Jonge Head of Public Services at RVO, to our office and lab in Wageningen. We’re grateful that such a prominent Dutch organization took the time to visit us and learn more about how we develop a sustainable alternative to palm oil. 👨🔬 The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has supported us financially through several programs, including Eurostars, DEI+, WBSO, and Innovatiekrediet, which have played a vital role in bringing our ambitions to life. During their visit, we discussed how the collaboration with RVO could be taken even further with support in finding a suitable location for our first (demo)factory in the Netherlands and support in our ambition to become international. Jeroen Hugenholtz, Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer of NoPalm Ingredients: “It was great to show Abdeluheb Choho and Frank de Jonge around in our facilities and to hear from them what RVO has to offer to a scale-up such as we are, beyond ‘only’ financial support”. Days like these reaffirm the power of collaboration when aiming for meaningful change. Therefore, a special thank you to the many employees of RVO, amongst others Elke Evers, Martin Duits, Frank Herrman, Irma Borst and Jos Jacobs for their continued support. 💚

    Palmolie, zonder palmbomen te gebruiken? 🌴 Meer dan de helft van alle producten in de supermarkt bevat palmolie. En dat moet anders, vond NoPalm Ingredients. Dus kwam dit innovatieve bedrijf met een ander idee. Met micro-organismen en afvalstromen maken zij olie die lijkt op palmolie, maar dan zonder de negatieve gevolgen voor het milieu. Gisteren liet mede-oprichter Prof Dr Jeroen Hugenholtz aan Abdeluheb Choho (Directeur-Generaal RVO) en Frank de Jonge (Hoofddirecteur Publieke Dienstverlening RVO) zien hoe dit proces in zijn werk gaat. Ze kregen een rondleiding in het lab én gingen in gesprek over de dienstverlening van RVO. 🧪 RVO ondersteunde het bedrijf met diverse regelingen, zoals het Eurostars-programma en het Innovatiekrediet. Dankzij deze ondersteuning kan NoPalm Ingredients belangrijke stappen zetten in de ontwikkeling en opschaling van hun technologie, van lab naar productieschaal. Jeroen vertelde over hun plannen om een eerste eigen fabriek te openen en hoe de subsidies van RVO hierbij helpen. En hoe belangrijk zij het vinden om als bedrijf maatschappelijke impact te maken. “Met onze aanpak willen we een verandering teweegbrengen die laat zien dat duurzaamheid en innovatie hand in hand gaan," zei hij hierover. 🤝 Samenwerking zoals deze laat zien hoe ondernemers en RVO samen écht het verschil kunnen maken. #Innovatie #Duurzaamheid #Ondernemen #Impact #Palmolie #Subsidie

    𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 NoPalm Ingredients! 🎉    We are excited to introduce Gargi, Stefan and Esmée – our current interns! 🌟 Gargi Pravin Kubde is a Food Safety master's student at Wageningen University, specialized in Food Law and Regulatory Affairs. In her internship, she drives regulatory projects by developing in-depth analyses of the EU regulatory framework. Stefan de Boer is a Biotechnology student at Wageningen University. He helps our Fermentation team with optimizing the growth medium and improving other parameters to produce oils as efficiently as possible.  Esmee van der Giessen studies Communication and Innovation at Wageningen University and works as a Marketing and Communication intern. This week, we’re taking you beyond the deck, telling you more about a workshop full of insights and other fun activities that made this trip one to remember. In a dynamic workshop by Dorien van Leeuwen, we delved into our management drives, transforming team insights into actionable strategies that boost collaboration and performance in our fast-paced environment. 📚 Reflecting on our teamwork has truly enhanced our ability to 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 under pressure and as a cohesive, high-performing team. This was especially noticeable in our 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫, which included three courses cooked with care, a large portion of chaos, and, above all, great company to share it with. 🥘 Another highlight that showcased our “high performing” spirit was 𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, where no genres were being left out and the number of polonaises was almost outrageous. Our co-founder Lars Langhout kicked things off by re-iterating our ambitious mission, key milestones and exciting opportunities. We were also privileged to hear from our investor, David Evans, of Fairtree Elevant Ventures, whose insights truly inspired us for our next steps. We took away some powerful lessons driving our way of thinking and speaking at NoPalm Ingredients. We've aligned on 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬: 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬, 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲. 🎯 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬: With a mindset that says, “we are going to make this work,” we are relentlessly focused on producing the right ingredients.
