Harnessing the powerful winds at Hornsea 🌬️ With 18.2 GW of installed renewable capacity across three continents, we’re committed to meeting the growing need for renewable electricity. Join our #WorldEnergyTours series as we explore some of our many assets in operation worldwide, starting with Hornsea 1 and 2 in the UK. Operating out of Grimsby, the two offshore wind farms play a key role in helping the UK achieve its renewable energy goals. With a combined capacity of 2.6 GW, the two wind farms can produce enough renewable energy to power over 2.3 million UK homes. But equally important, they have created thousands of local jobs in construction and operations – and a community fund ensures that the local communities benefit through social and environmental projects And we’re already on our way with the next expansion of the Hornsea Zone, currently building Hornsea 3, the world’s single-largest offshore wind farm. When the wind farm comes online, the Hornsea trio will have a total capacity of around 5.5 GW, making it the world’s largest operational offshore wind area.

Over ons
Ørsted is the global leader in offshore wind power and is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world. Within a decade, we transformed from being one of Europe’s most fossil fuel-intensive utilities to being ranked as one of the most sustainable energy companies in the world. Today, we’re guided by a clear vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy. We provide countries, companies, and communities with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive energy solutions, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, renewable hydrogen, and energy storage. We built the world’s first offshore wind farm back in 1991, and with over 2,000 turbines at sea, we’ve installed more offshore wind capacity than anyone else. In total, we own or operate over 17 GW of renewable energy capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, and by 2030 we aim to grow this to 35-38 GW. We know that to build renewable energy at pace and scale, we must build it right. We commit to developing and operating our assets in harmony with nature and in line with the need for science-based climate action. We prioritise integrity and safety in our operations, and we respect the human rights and diverse values of every employee and stakeholder. As a global renewable energy leader, we leverage the curiosity and passion of our people to innovate and take new or existing technologies to scale, collaborating with governments, suppliers, and our industry partners to make green energy solutions a reality.

Today marks a landmark milestone in our offshore construction campaign for Greater Changhua 2b and 4 and we’re proud to announce the successful installation of the offshore substation (OSS)✔️ This achievement is a significant step in our journey, from the initial steel cut back in July 2023, to the Seatrium sail-away in February from Singapore to Taiwan, culminating in the installation of the OSS jacket foundation and final topside. Despite the challenging weather during this time of the year, the OSS installation went smoothly! The jacket and piles and the topside were transported by Boskalis’s Mighty Servant 3 and Transshelf. The Aegir of Heerema then successfully completed the installation of the OSS. This success is a proof to the dedication and expertise of our team, who maintained the highest standards of quality, health, safety, and environment. As we advance into the next phase of offshore construction of the 920 MW project, we’ve also completed the installation of first export cable section. With the arrival of the Wind Maker vessel in Taiwan, we’re ready to begin the installation of 66 suction bucket jacket foundations and wind turbines. Thank you to our suppliers and contractors for their efforts. We look forward to continuing this journey and contributing to a greener world. 🤝

A day for the books at our ‘Ørsted Kalundborg CO2 Hub’! 🚢 We were happy to host a successful event at our Asnæs Power Station in Kalundborg alongside Northern Lights JV, where participants had the unique opportunity to tour the Northern Pathfinder – one of the world’s first commercial liquefied CO2 transport ships. The 130-meter vessel is a first of her kind and has been custom-designed to safely transport CO2. She will play a key role in the carbon capture and storage value chain by transporting CO2 from our Kalundborg hub to the Northern Lights terminal in Øygarden, Norway, after which it will be stored below the seabed in geological reservoirs. Beginning from 2026, the ‘Ørsted Kalundborg CO2 Hub’ will capture and store 430,000 tonnes of CO2 annually – equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions from approximately 200,000 gasoline cars. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this event a success!

Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms: WTG installation vessel Wind Maker has arrived in Taiwan! 🚢 Wind Maker set sail from Singapore and has successfully arrived in Taichung, marking an important milestone for Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms! This state-of-the-art jack-up wind turbine installation vessel was delivered by Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean to our construction partner Cadeler in January 2025. Wind Maker is designed for efficient, precise, and safe offshore operations, equipped with dynamic positioning technology to ensure fast, safe, and cost-effective positioning in various sea conditions. Outfitted with a 2,600-tonne main crane, Wind Maker enables the stable installation and maintenance of heavy offshore wind turbine foundations and components, even in water depths of up to 65 metres. With the capacity to transport four 14 MW turbines per round trip, it enhances efficiency and streamlines offshore wind turbine installation while ensuring reliable performance and the highest operational standards. With Wind Maker now in Taiwan, we look forward to seeing this advanced vessel play a key role in the installation of 66 wind turbines for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms!

Two major milestones reached in our onshore Bahren West wind farms! We’re making great progress in the east of Germany, reaching two important milestones in our Bahren West project. We commissioned Bahren West I and took final investment decision for Bahren West II, with construction start planned for May this year. Bahren West I consists of nine 5.6 MW turbines, delivering a total capacity of 50.4 MW. Bahren West II, located nearby, will feature 11 5.6 MW turbines with a total capacity of 61.6 MW. Once completed, Bahren West I and II will have a combined capacity of 112 MW, constituting one of the largest forest wind farms in Brandenburg. Together, these two expansion stages will provide clean energy to the equivalent of 80,000 German households, bringing us closer to a greener and more sustainable future. Fixing offshore wind turbines in the middle of the North Sea - Julian’s job is anything but ordinary! For the past 5½ years, Julian has been troubleshooting wind turbines at Ørsted’s Borkum Riffgrund and Gode Wind 1 and 2 offshore wind farms, ensuring they keep spinning and delivering renewable energy. His job involves solving electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and software issues. His work is as challenging as it is rewarding. 💬 “This is the kind of job you wake up excited for – one where every day brings something different. The exciting thing is being in the middle of the North Sea and going to the wind farms in different ways, the most exciting is by helicopter, also on CTVs with the waves and the sea, but the simple fact of being on top of a wind turbine and watching the sunset is amazing; no matter how many years you do it, it never gets old.” Julian's work has completely transformed his life. Not only does he get to do something exciting that he loves, where he can enjoy the freedom to travel and explore new projects, but he also contributes to the environment together with his colleagues from all over the world. 💬 “Every role within offshore wind is essential – whether in the office, on-site, or behind the scenes. From engineers and technicians to those ensuring a safe and efficient working environment, it’s a collective effort that drives the transition to renewable energy.” #orstedmoment
