The technology specialist from the Dutch headquarters, Dhaval Mehta, was at Paques Brazil from October 7 to 11 to conduct an intensive training with the teams, carry out field research at customer sites, and assist our team in solving operational challenges. During the visit, the Process Engineering, Field, and Mechanical teams, as well as the Laboratory team, actively participated in this update, strengthening their knowledge and improving operational practices. This initiative aims to keep Paques at the technological forefront, offering increasingly innovative and effective solutions.

Effluents with high levels of organic and inert solids, such as excess sludge from Sewage Treatment Plants, fermentation residues, and manure, can be efficiently treated using an anaerobic technology that employs flocculating biomass. This approach is particularly effective in dealing with high organic loads, converting them into biogas, a renewable energy source that can be used to power industrial processes or generate electricity and heat. Additionally, this can help significantly reduce the amount of organic waste discarded into the environment, contributing to sustainability and the preservation of natural resources. Tuning in from Texas, USA: Paques’ THIOPAQ® was selected to remove hydrogen sulfide as pretreatment for an RNG system at a digester facility. Started up in the winter of 2022, the THIOPAQ® has consistently achieved an H2S removal efficiency of > 99%, bringing the treated gas H2S to less than 25 ppm. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Song, CEO of EcoBio Holdings, at Balk. We showed him our lab reactor facilities, but he is used to biotechnology on a large scale! EcoBio, Korea, operates the largest THIOPAQ biological desulfurization plant in the world. The plant has been in tip-top operation since 2011. It treats 32,000 Nm3/h of landfill biogas, powering a gigantic CHP system of 50 MW, and recovering 20 tons/day of sulfur from the landfill to make bio-chemicals. Untreated, leaking landfill gases are a major source of greenhouse gas emissions: let’s close the loop. #circular #biotechnology
