This edition features the pioneering Green Transport Delta Hydrogen project, led by DAF Trucks NV and backed by the Dutch government, to transform diesel engines into hydrogen combustion engines for non-road and inland waterway applications. As part of this initiative, NPS Driven has been re-engineering a DAF six-cylinder diesel engine for hydrogen use. Peter van der Heijden, Managing Director of NPS Driven, emphasizes the company’s commitment to sustainable powertrain solutions: “In the next 20 years, we must eliminate carbon emissions. Hydrogen offers a viable solution if we can achieve efficient storage and distribution.” The technical team tackled a complex redesign, adapting the engine management system, ECU, and wiring to make a diesel engine hydrogen-compatible without a complete overhaul. Unlike fuel cells, hydrogen combustion engines provide a more cost-effective solution and tolerate lower hydrogen purity levels, opening doors to wider applications. Moving forward, the Green Transport Delta Hydrogen project will undergo extensive testing with additional funding sought from the National Growth Fund. Van der Heijden underscores that government support in establishing a hydrogen distribution network will be key to driving adoption, just as it did for electric vehicles. Thank you, ACE Mobility, for bringing attention to groundbreaking projects like these that shape the future of clean mobility. Together, we’re advancing sustainable solutions, one innovation at a time. Gentiana Tijssen, Nadieh van Kesteren, Christine Swinkels, Freek de Bruijn, Susan Smolders #GreenTransportDelta #Hydrogen

𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲: 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 Last week we organized a successful trade mission in Bretagne, which we as RAI Automotive Industry NL organized together with our partners NBSO Nantes and ID4MOBILITY. 🤝 The delegation consisted of 11 participants, all active in the domain of design and lightweight materials. Our goal was to ensure that each company had the opportunity to make relevant contacts, gain insights into the world of composites in Bretagne, and explore business opportunities in France. From Lorient, where we saw the latest developments in Additive Manufacturing, to Rennes, where we were introduced to the expertise of tier 1 suppliers such as FORVIA and Continental. This mission gave us new insights and valuable contacts. Some highlights of our program: In Lorient 👉 Visiting Class40 Coriolis Composites where automated fiber placement is established 👨🎓 ComposiTIC: offering innovative solutions in composite additive manufacturing 👨🎓 Institut de Recherche Dupuy de Lome taught us how they scan and measure components produced via additive manufacturing In Rennes 🚙 Visit FORVIA where they manufacture body panels for several automotive OEMs 💡 Deep dives into the company Contitech, part of Continental where they showed us how to manufacture multiple materials in a responsible manner 🚙 Visit the iconic Stellantis Rennes Plant, where we met EXCELCAR: an open platform and living lab where companies from several markets can test their materials and manufacturing methods 🍽 Delegation Dinner with guests from France 👍 Special thanks to Véronique Foucart - Rottier for putting together this amazing program! The Brittany region is a hotbed of innovation in the field of composites, with numerous remarkable developments in the application of glass fiber and carbon fiber. These advancements, achieved through various manufacturing methods, demonstrate the region’s commitment to lightweighting. From the Netherlands, we would like to contribute to that! #trade, #mission, #collaboration, #lightweight, #composites, #automotive Axxor Group Autonational Composites Envalior HTR Rubber and Foam (Hoogerdijk BV Technical Rubber), Adam Roestenburg MSc., Nederlandse Ambassade in Frankrijk

  • 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧 Two weeks ago we brought 25 entrepreneurs from 16 Dutch companies to Detroit for a mission organized around The Battery Show. With a new wave of innovation in electrification in the Motor City, there is a clear opportunity for 🇳🇱🇺🇸 cooperation, as Dutch companies help spearhead the development of next-gen battery technologies, from material innovations in graphite and nanoporous materials to safety solutions and prototyping. Some key takeaways from an energizing mission: ⚡ Competition in the electrification of the mobility sector is fierce, and this year’s Battery Show saw a 30% increase in size and attendance. Anxiety over international competition, trade barriers, and sourcing for critical materials sparked much discussion. The US is aggressively positioning itself to compete globally, creating opportunities for Dutch firms and underlining the need for the Dutch sector to stay competitive in this fierce landscape. 🔋 Research presented to the mission by Bernard Swiecki of the Detroit Regional Partnership showed increasing adoption of technologies like E-motors, battery chemistry and design, hydrogen fuel-cell systems, and assembly automation. For example: battery chemistry and design technology currently sits at 8% market penetration, but it is expected to grow to 36% by 2030. E-motor technology will be a US focus going forward, expected to jump from ~20% to 70% market penetration by 2030. 🔌 The Michigan mobility ecosystem has a low barrier to entry for collaboration between universities and entrepreneurs—including international companies. At the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, the delegation met with the Perot Jain TechLab, a unique program that facilitates access to the American market at a very affordable level. In Detroit, Newlab is an inspiring incubator and innovation space focused on the future of mobility. We ended the week with a tour of the Ford Motor Company Rouge factory and the assembly line of the Ford F150, the bestselling vehicle in the US, followed by a presentation from Daniel Kok highlighting Ford’s pivotal role in the electrification of the mobility industry. After a successful week of presentations, site visits, matchmaking, and exploring #theBatteryShow, we thank Nederlands Consulaat Generaal in Chicago, Brainport Eindhoven, and the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) as well as our friends in Michigan, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Detroit Regional Partnership, and Plug and Play Tech Center.
