Fifth generation takes the helm at Rinos As of 1 April, Herman (right) and Age (left) Mulder will assume leadership as managing directors at Rinos. A significant milestone, as this marks the entry of the fifth generation as shareholders—in the same year that Rinos celebrates its 100th anniversary. From 1 May, Milco Visscher will strengthen the management team as commercial director. The current managing director, Peter Kuipers, will oversee the transition and step down on 31 July. This step is the result of a carefully planned process. In 2022, we announced that the fifth generation was preparing for this transition. Now, the moment has arrived. Do entrance matting rolls need edges? We want your opinion! All entrance mats and rolls have edges. For small, loose mats placed on top of an existing floor, edges are functional. They reduce trip hazards, minimize wear, and make it easier for wheelchairs and walkers to pass. But do they make sense for rolls? Installers tell us: “We cut off the edges of roll-format entrance matting because we often install the mats in recessed wells or vestibules.” Wouldn’t it be easier to supply roll-format entrance matting without edges altogether? A coir or polyamide mat – which do you choose? A coir mat is a rough scraping mat made from 80% biobased and recycled materials: you walk on nature, they say. Its characteristic open and high structure can trap up to 6 kg of dirt per m² and can be vacuum cleaned. A polyamide mat contains finer yarns and absorbs moisture better. It’s thinner and traps up to 2 kg of dirt per m². This mat can be deep cleaned and contains slightly less recycled material (60%). An entrance mat may look like regular carpet, but appearances can be deceiving!
