𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 As population growth and industrial activities drive up the demand for drinking water, many water companies are now struggling to meet the needs of new business customers or expand services for existing ones. The high costs, environmental concerns of expanding water infrastructure, and the dwindling availability of reliable water sources are key factors behind these limitations.   However, water-intensive businesses have advanced technical solutions at their disposal. Membrane Distillation (MD) is one such technology that can convert surface water or treated wastewater into pure water in a single step. This high-purity water is ideal for cooling water supplementation, process and rinse water, and boiler feed water. The process can also harness a company's residual heat, making it both efficient and sustainable.   As water supply companies increasingly restrict industrial users to preserve scarce resources, RN Solutions offers a practical alternative. For businesses facing water shortages and excess residual heat, RN Solutions provides an innovative Membrane Distillation solution. This process delivers demineralized water with extremely low conductivity (<2 microSiemens/cm), perfectly suited for various industrial applications.   Interested in discovering how Membrane Distillation can address your industrial water needs? 𝗠𝗶𝗷𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗷𝗳 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝘁 𝘇𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗷𝗸𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗻: 𝘄𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝘂?

𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 RN Solutions is increasingly receiving enquiries from parties involved in the treatment of produced water. These customers are experienced in the treatment of produced water and design and build their own plants. Membrane Distillation is a promising technology for the treatment of produced water from oil wells. Produced water is a by-product of oil and gas production and often contains high concentrations of hydrocarbons, dissolved salts, heavy metals and chemical additives. Treatment of this water is critical for reuse and environmental sustainability in the oil and gas industry. Membrane distillation uses a hydrophobic membrane to separate water from contaminants. The process involves heating the produced water, which causes it to evaporate. The water vapour then passes through the hydrophobic membrane, leaving behind the dissolved salts and other impurities. The vapour condenses as clean water on the other side of the membrane. One of the key advantages of this process is its ability to achieve high salt rejection rates. For example, hypersaline oil field produced water has been treated using direct contact membrane distillation with a hydrophobic membrane, achieving a total salt rejection of more than 99.9% and a total organic carbon (TOC) removal of more than 93.3%. This indicates that membrane distillation can effectively remove a significant portion of the contaminants present in produced water, making it a viable option for oil well water treatment. Ready to explore how membrane distillation can maximise your produced water treatment processes? Contact us at info@rnsolutionsbv.com and take the first step towards cleaner, reusable water solutions.

𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 Data centers rank among the top ten water-consuming commercial industries, with cooling towers in the Netherlands alone using 1 million m³ of potable water annually. As water scarcity becomes an escalating global issue, it's crucial to adopt more sustainable practices.   One significant advantage of data centers is the substantial amount of residual heat they generate, which is typically dissipated through cooling towers. Membrane distillation, a temperature-driven technology, can effectively utilize this thermal energy. Here's how:   ✔ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿: By treating and reusing blowdown water from cooling towers, we can save approximately 15% of make-up water. ✔ 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Utilizing residual heat decreases the need for additional cooling, which can cut make-up water intake by up to 37%, lowering costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. ✔ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿: We can generate demineralized water with thermal energy ranging from 200 to 750 kWh/m³ that would otherwise be lost through cooling towers.   The demineralized water produced can be reused in cooling towers, reducing the need for chemicals and further promoting water efficiency.   For more information on how membrane distillation can transform your water use, visit our website or contact us at info@rnsolutionsbv.com.

𝗠𝗗 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 That's what people think. However, RN Solutions has made membrane distillation (MD) work where others have failed. Patented in 1960, reverse osmosis (RO) membranes quickly became a key solution to water scarcity. By 1970, large-scale RO plants were in operation and today the largest RO plant produces 920,000 m³/day. In contrast, MD, patented in 1963, lagged behind due to significant development challenges and premature claims of success, leading to widespread mistrust of the technology. MD's challenges stem from problems in the design and manufacture of large-scale membrane modules. Many early developers claimed success too soon, leading to failures and skepticism. In addition, MD has been mis-marketed as a direct alternative to RO, despite its unique advantages in utilising residual heat and producing pure water suitable for multiple applications. RN Solutions has successfully addressed these issues. We have developed proprietary bonding techniques for difficult materials such as PTFE, PP and PE. Our patented rectangular module design optimizes hydraulic and thermal transport, while our diamond spacer prevents temperature and concentration polarization, ensuring high membrane flux. We have introduced our MD solutions only after thorough validation and proven performance. Now, as public water supply companies restrict the use of industrial water, companies are turning to MD. RN Solutions' technology uses residual heat to produce pure water, ideal for boiler feed, cooling and process water. In the green hydrogen sector, MD can meet water needs by utilizing the residual heat from electrolysers. Want to know how MD can work for your water? Let's discuss it.
