We are super proud to announce our first GoFundMe project to support green spaces & biodiversity at our campus Kralingse zoom/ Woudestein. This fundraising project is part of our rooftop module Sustainable Business Innovation where we collaborate with rooftop owners & the municipality of Rotterdam. Students try to convince rooftop owners to use their space for sustainable purposes. Over the past years, we have evolved as a program and tested multiple sales & marketing techniques. This is a new one! Participatory transformation. What if institutions/ rooftop owners receive some of the fundings by their own participants? Are they more willing to change? A big shout out to our teacher team Julie Adams Alexandra Sierra, and to our partners Jon de Ruijter Paul van Roosmalen to support us and challenge us. For our module Sustainable Business Innovation we are testing an EU funded calculation tool LIFE@URBAN ROOFS which calculates the social benefits of investments for roofs. It gives value to greenery, fresh air, heat stress & social functions. A good example of how a new business model could look like. Pretty cool! Thanks Paul van Roosmalen for this guest lecture! Het is bijna zover, de eerste Hackathon van 2024! Een wedstrijd waarin 50 internationale studenten van verschillende hogescholen en universiteiten op Hogeschool Rotterdam tegen elkaar strijden. Welk team bedenkt het meest innovatieve en unieke product om reststromen te verwerken én te vermarkten? De reststromen in deze editie zijn vruchten - zoals mango’s en citrusvruchten - aangeleverd door Farmhouse International B.V. en ABC Logistics. Bedankt voor – wederom – deze fantastische samenwerking! Deze editie is verdeeld in 3 delen; Op 25 april → vindt de Kick-off plaats, verzorgd door Junion Hanenberg en Claire Eileen Wolff MA (Ed) Op 8 mei → geeft Janet Kimman (sustainability coordinator bij Farmhouse International) een gastles waarin zij haar kennis over duurzaamheid met de studenten deelt en daarbij ook een aantal van hun vragen zal beantwoorden. The crate way! With this slogan of one of the best teams, we concluded our rooftop project this season. Stef Janssen inspired this team to pitch the idea of purchasing a Veenman crate to our “ rooftop owners” Benjamin van der Kemp Annemiek Strijker Ruud van Eck from the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. We will have a follow up meeting soon for implementing this idea! Lucky us for this remarkable outcome and having so many interested guests in our classroom! Dit is één van de gebouwen waar onze studenten een advies voor hebben geschreven in samenwerking met Sportbedrijf Rotterdam Rene Schoel . Aan dit advies zat een participatieonderzoek van de buurt gekoppeld. Volgens onze wethouder Klimaat, Bouwen & Wonen Chantal Zeegers is betrokkenheid van de buurt cruciaal voor het laten slagen van de energietransitie. Wil jij je dak/ gevel/gebouw verduurzamen? En vind je het leuk om studenten te betrekken? Neem dan contact met ons op. Binnen onze minor, zoeken we gebouweneigenaren, die verduurzamingsmogelijkheden in kaart willen brengen met daaraan gekoppeld een participieonderzoek van de buurt! Our students helped by generating ideas for making the building more sustainable. Besides that, they collected data on how the neighborhood evaluated this sustainable project. According to our alderman for Climate & Housing Chantal Seegers, is the involvement of the neighborhood crucial for making the energy transition a success.
