"The government's announced cuts to education, research and innovation threaten to deteriorate opportunities in the Netherlands. Whereas we need to strengthen the business climate for innovative companies". Thank you Joost Sneller (member of Dutch parliament) for your commitment to start-ups, scale-ups, incubators and fieldlabs! We collectively need to urge politicians to support organisations that collaborate to resolve complex societal problems and to secure economic prosperity in the future. #innovation #techfund #economicgrowth #parliament #tweedekamer #innovatie #Groeifonds #economie #DeltaplanValorisatie #BoosterProgramma
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 '𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵' 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 '𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆'! ⤴️ "Fieldlabs like SAM XL are essential to secure a strong Dutch competitive position on a global scale", explains our business developer Aydin van den Bergh during a visit of Dutch parliament member Joost Sneller (political party D66) and senior policy officer Innovation Rick Fransen (Dutch Province of South-Holland). "We need to bridge the difficult steps in climbing up the TRL scale (Technology Readiness Level). Especially in the mid-TRL, also well-known as 'the valley of death', where a lot of innovations stall or even die a silent death" ⛔. Many innovations face difficulties in organising financial support to evolve to a viable product 🚧. After developing a new technology, start-ups and scale-ups need funding for trials, demonstrations and modifying a product or service before it is ready to market. Governmental funding 💰 is highly under pressure, while the industry wants an outlook on off the shelf products or services before they invest. SAM XL and other fieldlabs are bridging that gap to transform the “valley of death” in - what we call – “the valley of opportunity” 🌉. Aydin: "The Netherlands is, through the Dutch universities and research institutions, innovative and is able to develop new technologies. But getting those new technologies to the market in a profitable business, is a major challenge. With fieldlabs where the universities, research institutions, governments and the industry come together and jointly invest in, we can overcome that threshold. Where in other countries innovations would stall in the maturing process, our technologies would be able to continue the road to market through the Dutch fieldlabs’ valley of opportunity" 🌟. At SAM XL, we develop smart robotics technology for the manufacturing industry 💡🤖. Smart robotics enable the manufacturing of products with the utmost precision, with a constant, high quality. Aydin: "This is essential in the long run: after 10-15 years, the quality of conventionally manufactured products, will deteriorate. Therefore, at SAM XL, we are focussing both on smart manufacturing as well as smart maintenance and repair". 🔧 #innovation #investingopportunity #funding #subsidy #economy #growth #startup #scaleup #spinoff #spinout #opportunity #groeifonds #subsidie #innovatie #NLeconomie #EconomischeGroei Delft University of Technology, TU Delft Campus, TU Delft | Aerospace Engineering

🌡️ Staying in the zone for the highest quality! Gustavo Asai’s internship project at SAM XL focused on solving one of the crucial aspects of large-scale 3D printing: temperature control. If the previous layer gets too cold ❄️ during printing, a new layer won't bond properly - weakening the final product. Too hot 🔥, and the structure can warp under the weight of new material (see photos), resulting in a blob. To solve this, Gustavo researched the key factors in the cooling process and developed a closed-loop controller. By using thermal cameras, his system continuously monitors the temperature and automatically adjusts the printing speed to ensure each layer is just right! 📸👌 Until now, you could only assess and adjust the printing process based on experience. With this control loop, we offer solid, real life quality monitoring. This saves a considerable amount of time and prevents material loss, which is crucial to expand the 3D-industry. Gustavo's supervisor Sungi Han is impressed by the results. Not only did Gustavo's project make great strides in improving the quality of 3D-printed objects, but the data he gathered will also be used for developing thermodynamic models in future research. Thank you, Gustavo Asai, for your hard work and dedication during your time at SAM XL, and good luck with your next challenge! 🌟 Delft University of Technology, TU Delft Campus, TU Delft | Aerospace Engineering #internship #3DPrint #TemperatureControl #SmartManufacturing #Automation #Robotics #Innovation #Internship #EngineeringExcellence #FutureOfManufacturing #Industry40 #experiment
