One thing we love about leather items, is that often they come with a story. Just like this pair of "vellies" from our colleague Alecia Oosthuizen. "Vellies or Velskoene have a bit of history about them. The Dutch settlers who arrived in South Africa in the 17th Century are believed to be the first to make Velskoene based on the traditional Khoisan footwear. A strong suede or leather shoe or boot, the footwear was later embedded into the Afrikaaner culture when Velskoene were used for the Great Trek. Today it is still a popular item and worn by all.
