Enabling conception and embryo development in space As our ARTIS minilab is progressing well, the ethical discussions also further mature. Working towards ethically sensitive goals requires committing to comply with high ethical standards and preparing for research council reviews. And more …   Considering the expected implications we also feel the responsibility to participate in and initiate transparent ethical discussions. To safeguard and promote valid and rich dialogues our Ethics Team is working on a specific bio-ethical framework for our ARTIS missions program. Especially via PhD research by our team member Theofanis Sivris.   We are excited our goals and way of working continue to attract passionate experts that want to contribute to enabling safe conception and early embryo development in space. Robert Carrasquillo, MD certainly is such a biomedical expert and recently joined the team. SpaceBorn United congratulates Rachel Wright and Melisa Cankiran with their excellent research results and graduation at Cranfield University. We strongly value your contributions to our ARTIS mission payload design.   Rachel and Melisa explored and validated design solutions for the cryogenic subsystem that will pause the embryo development after 5 days in low earth orbit. Rachel focused on the vitrification process (cryogenically fast freezing) and Melissa focused on maintaining the cryo temperature of our payload until recovery back on Earth.
