Stahl Campus Waalwijk recently hosted representatives from two prominent tanneries, known for supplying high-quality leather. Their week-long visit included theoretical training sessions each morning covering topics such as Polymatte® 2.0, chemistry of acrylics and urethanes, Stahl Ympact®-biobased materials and biodegradability, ZDHC, LCA and Ecovadis, as well as quality control measures. In the afternoons, participants engaged in practical workshops focused on enhancing water resistance in speciality leathers and minimizing stickiness during embossing processes. The visit also featured a guided tour led by Local Manager Maarten hak, which was well-received. Recently, the first 2 weeks of the Post Graduate Certificate Leather Finish Automotive, took place in Stahl Campus (the Netherlands). These are part of a 6 weeks course, in collaboration with the University of Northampton. Theory, practicals and field trips were involved. We visited car dealers (to look at leather in cars), a tannery and went to the Leather museum (called 'het SchoenenKwartier' in Waalwijk). The theoretical part was on the leather process. For the practicals the participants had to work in groups to make 3 Automotive finished articles. Everyone really enjoyed it. Next they have to carry out online assignments, which will be graded by Stahl Campus and the University. Thanks to all the colleagues who helped making this possible! In January the group will be back at Stahl for the second 2 weeks of the master degree education.
