A post from one of our founders, on Typetone's pivot and milestone of 90k+ users!
From "WTF are we doing?" to 90,000+ users in 18 months. 18 months ago we started Typetone. Yes, we were early to the AI wave, and yes, we take some pride in being there before ChatGPT existed. BUT we had to learn the hard way, that being early didn’t give our company the right to exist.. - For 1.5 years we have been hustling to grow Typetone into what it is now. 90,000+ users are currently using Typetone, or (a good part of it) not using it anymore. Although growth was great, very early on we knew there was a bigger pain point to solve. Investors saw that too: the barrier to start an AI startup is low. Particularly in content automation. Just a talented team + growth is sometimes not enough to raise a nice VC round, even in AI. We had to make a hard decision.. → We pivoted. Hard. Like, "change-the-complete-business-model-and-product" hard. Fast forward to today: We've built a fully autonomous AI marketeer called Sarah, who's actually helping businesses grow online, at this very moment, on autopilot. How did we go from 0 to 90,000+ users and some major enterprise customers: → We stopped trying to become a ‘’better tool’’. Businesses need an extra set of hands, not another tool. Funnily enough, the co-pilot narrative is the one driving AI adoption in big companies. Drop the ‘co’. Just ‘pilot’. It’s cleaner.🤡 → We always believed there was more to automate. Building with the end in mind (a fully autonomous AI employee) helped us think bigger and solve problems by working backwards. → Relentless focus on results, not features. Nobody cares about your slidedeck, they care about ROI and solving their problem. We are just getting started and our vision is big on the future of AI employees. I want to thank our team for building such an incredible product in such a short timeframe with focus, smarts and obsession. ♻️What do you think, are we making the right decision by pivoting?
