Over ons
The United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY Peacebuilders) is a global network of over 100 youth organisations in 69 countries, active in the field of peacebuilding and conflict transformation. UNOY was established in 1989 and its base lies in The Hague, The Netherlands. The UNOY network contributes to the work of its members and affiliates in two fundamental ways, namely capacity building and advocacy and campaigning. Our goal is to create a world where young people have the opportunity and skills to contribute to peace. We work to strengthen youth-led peacebuilding initiatives, facilitate a safe space for dialogue and conflict transformation, develop the organizational capacities of our members and to bring the voices of young people to policy makers on a regional and global level. In order to build capacities of youth, UNOY implements a wide range of activities including training courses, workshops, conferences, lectures, summer schools, and study sessions. In addition, UNOY has published several tool kits available on our website. UNOY also advocates for youth at various institutional levels, including the UN, where one of the long term goals of our advocacy work was achieved in 2015 with the adoption of the UN Security Council resolution 2250 on youth, peace and security.

🌍 As wars continue to devastate regions like Gaza, Ukraine, Lebanon, Sudan, and Myanmar, the international community faces unprecedented humanitarian challenges. At the Summit of the Future, world leaders adopted the Pact for the Future—but does it address the most pressing issues? In our latest blog, Khaled Emam from UNOY member organisation Justice Call critically examines the Pact. While it introduces positive steps, it overlooks essential principles like the Responsibility to Protect, the need for stronger adaptive leadership within the UN, and a resourced framework for localization. 👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eDBJq2pt #Youth4Peace #PactForTheFuture

I was pleased to represent the United Network of Young Peacebuilders at the United for Peace - EU UWC Youth Leadership Forum in Cyprus. Alongside the brilliant Laura Pistarini, we co-facilitated an exciting workshop on “Youth Inclusion: Between Theory and Practice.” The Forum is a collaborative event designed to bring together young leaders, peacebuilders, and students from Europe, particularly those connected with the United World Colleges. It is supported by institutions like the European Union and UWC to promote youth leadership in areas like peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and social inclusion. Moreover, it aims to foster collaboration, empower youth, and equip them with the tools and knowledge to be leaders in peace initiatives at a local, national, and international level. Many thanks to Lara Savenije, the UWC teachers and the European Commission for their incredible efforts in transforming education into a real peaceful power for change. #YouthLeadership #Peacebuilding #EUUWC #unitedforpeace

🌟 Youth participation in consultations is crucial, but it's essential to address protection, inclusion, and funding to ensure meaningful engagement. Non-youth actors should establish transparent protocols and support diverse youth voices, whereas youth actors should advocate for their needs and stay self-reflective! Explore our new ✨Guide on Inclusive Consultations✨ for actionable advice on fostering effective collaboration between youth and non-youth actors in intergenerational dialogues!
