Exploring PFAS alternatives Together with some of the leading Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) VoltaChem co-initiator TNO worked on a joint statement on the upcoming restriction within the European Union. PFAS material, aka 'forever chemicals' are widely used in multiple applications due to their unique properties and long lifetime. In the Faraday Lab (NL) multiple fluor free membranes are tested, validated and developed from commercial suppliers with promising results. Like to know more? Contributing to the energy transition. Envision it. Become a business developer Green Hydrogen Production. Support companies, industrial clusters, and institutions in the transition from fossil to sustainable material and energy management. The goal of the position is to develop and market our value propositions. In this position, your primary focus is on the further development and application of electrolysis technology for green hydrogen production. The development of electrolysis technology is still in its infancy. TNO plays a leading role globally in the further development of this technology towards more efficient, cheaper, and more sustainable electrolysers. This development is always in collaboration with Dutch and international companies. We do this in bilateral projects, but also in multi-partner projects and public-private partnerships such as VoltaChem, Electrolyzer Makersplatform, and ISPT Hydrohub. As a business developer, you will support companies throughout the hydrogen chain. From (future) green hydrogen operators, project developers, and EPC companies to high-tech manufacturing companies developing materials, components, and systems for electrolysers. Core activities include the development and sale of R&D projects related to water, electrolysis technology, contract negotiation, and licensing arrangements, conducting market research, and expanding TNO's industry and partner network. You will also support the management of our Industry division in developing and validating the proposition portfolio. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/eWpfv_B6

Paving the way for a greener future As we approach the summer holidays, many will take to the skies for their travels. In a study VoltaChem and TNO Vector delve into innovative solutions like #e-methanol and #e-kerosene, aiming to make #aviation more #sustainable in the future. This study embarks on an in-depth evaluation of diverse pathways to achieve sustainable mobility, offering a comparative quantitative analysis through a meticulously selected set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These KPIs are calculated for various configurations that ingeniously integrate CO2 capture, storage, and e-fuels production. The focus is on carbon-based e-fuels, such as e-methanol and e-kerosene, which are anticipated to be pivotal in transforming heavy-duty transport sectors like long-haul trucking, aviation, and maritime shipping towards sustainability. By exploring these innovative configurations, our research addresses critical aspects of the Paris Agreement's goal to limit global warming by 2050. This comprehensive analysis not only caters to well-informed researchers but also aims to engage a broader audience interested in the future of sustainable transport. Our findings provide insightful perspectives on how these carbon-based e-fuels can significantly contribute to reducing the #carbon footprint of heavy-duty transportation, paving the way for a greener future. Great news! Start of a new intensive collaboration between Elcogen and TNO in the framework of the VoltaChem program to develop next generation highly efficient Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Stacks for hydrogen production. Martijn Graaff, de, Program Director VoltaChem says: "Together with our business community, we aim for accelerated innovation and implementation of Power-2-X technologies and value chains in order to reduce the CO2 footprint of hydrogen and chemicals production. Solid Oxide Electrolysis is an important technology building block in this ambition, especially because it can be efficiently integrated in the high-temperature process industry. It’s great to see a company like Elcogen taking the next step in developing its technology towards larger scale together with VoltaChem’s initiating partner TNO." 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Availability of enough electricity is one of the bottlenecks everyone is facing. Today it is much better understood what is needed, also from a governmental and grid provider perspective. It is VoltaChem’s mission to accelerate innovation in Power-2-X as the urgency to get energy available is high. At the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen, Netherlands, the VoltaChem community gathered around 100 attendees at its annual event to discuss how electrification can come into practice and what the hurdles are. Existing project members from the full value chain, and closest relations were sharing their ambition on electrification of the chemical industry.   Together with our partner Brightsite, the focus of the event was on strategic challenges, such as: how to identify the right technology for a specific context, how to scale up efficiency and how to develop a positive business case.     Martijn Graaff, de (Program Director) kicked off this event together with Arnold Stokking (Managing Director at Brightsite). During the morning, C-level colleagues from industry shared their insightful stories and answered questions in the fields of Power-2-Integrate, Power-2-Hydrogen and Power-2-Chemicals. In the afternoon, in breakouts the groups dived into the details of the specific technology domains on the one hand. On the other hand the technical roadmap were worked on with VoltaChem’s partners.   Speaking members were Francisco Boshell, Head-Innovation and End-Use Applications at IRENA, Achim Raschka, Head of Technology & Markets at Nova Institute, René Slaghek, Technology Manager at Brightsite, Markus Kunze, VP Engineering at Bosch Transmission Technology, Elmer de Boer, Head of Renewable Energy Solutions at Eneco, Márcio Rebouçasças, Global Process technology lead at Braskem, and Puttipong Suwan, Net Zero Innovation Manager at PTT Global Chemical.   It was a lively and very engaging community event packed with knowledge sharing, networking and project idea development. Curious to learn more about the VoltaChem program or how to become a community member? International Power to X workshop - 12 May 2024 - Ahoy Rotterdam Converting green electricity from renewable sources into storable energy carriers such as hydrogen, ammonia or dimethyl ether is a practical solution with several key advantages: these Power-to-X energy carriers guarantee energy security independent of the volatility of sustainable energy production; they can be transported over long distances; and they are suitable for defossilizing sectors that can currently be electrified only to a limited extent or not at all. The mobility sector (shipping and aviation), the industrial sector (steel and cement production) and the chemical industry will remain dependent on green energy sources and chemicals in the medium term. The content of the workshop will be jointly developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO with the support of the Port of Rotterdam. By attending the workshop, you will receive a discount of more than 30% on the ticket price for the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition. Registration https://lnkd.in/eRzavDDq #ptxworkshop
