  • #WorldSkills Champion Elizabeth Isai of Namibia 🇳🇦 knows the value of her skill is not in the medals she has won but in how she now uses it to help those around her. She uses her free time to show people how to improve the way they plan meals, how they can use up ingredients before they go bad, and how to reduce food waste. She has become actively involved in local organizations and charities that focus on food insecurity and nutrition education, by preparing nutritious meals for the residents at a local shelter. In Namibia, 18% of the population currently live below the national poverty line. Elizabeth says that learning to cook, “can empower individuals to make healthier choices, save money, and become more self-sufficient.” She’s using skill to address the larger-scale issues her country is facing. Learn about Elizabeth’s recipe for impact, and find more stories of how skilled young people around the world are Making their Mark! https://lnkd.in/gZ7zQr7h Together, #WeAreMakingOurMark.

  • Teams who train together, train better! That was demonstrated at Skills Cooperation Workshops held this year by #WorldSkills Chinese Taipei. Over 50 Competitors and Experts from European, Asian, and African countries and regions joined Chinese Taipei in exchanging knowledge and trying out their skills in friendly training events held over two months. Thanks to the spirit of sharing, all Member countries and regions were able to learn from the experience of Chief Experts who helped them better understand the scoring system that was then used at WorldSkills Lyon 2024. There are clear, positive impacts to participating in #WorldSkills, according to results of an Impact Statement Development Survey from the WorldSkills Global Research Council. Follow-up interviews with Skills Finland and WorldSkills UK also showed the potential for creating a skills-led ecosystem for systemic change, developing local TVET systems by aligning WorldSkills methodologies with national priorities. This skills impact analysis was shared earlier this month at WorldSkills Conference 2024 #WSC2024, connected to conversations about how to elevate skills on the global agenda.
