On April 9th, a new round of the SWIM subsidy will open, offering significant opportunities for companies considering hydrogen vehicles. In the previous round, zepp.solutions was allocated 10 slots across five different consortia for our hydrogen-electric truck, ‘Europa’. These projects were established in collaboration with H2 infrastructure providers TEAL Mobility, Green Planet Pesse, and Fountain Fuel. The first two Europa trucks are now about to hit the road. For businesses exploring hydrogen-powered transport, the SWIM subsidy can significantly reduce costs. Curious about the potential impact on your operations? Explore our Total Cost of Ownership tool here: https://lnkd.in/ecnwxd8d If you’re interested in experiencing the Europa truck firsthand or joining a SWIM consortium, we’d be happy to connect. At zepp.solutions, we believe the chicken-and-egg problem of hydrogen is an invitation to innovate. 💡 The global shift towards hydrogen-based heavy-duty operations comes with numerous challenges and opportunities. As highlighted by the World Energy Council, one of the key challenges to a thriving hydrogen economy is the mismatch between supply and demand. There is no demand without supply, and no supply without demand. It’s a classic chicken-and-egg paradox. But what comes first, the chicken or the egg? At zepp.solutions, we tackle this challenge through three distinct approaches. Curious how we’re turning this dilemma into new opportunities? Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eNV_2kFX

zepp.solutions has been selected as the fuel cell system supplier for the NERA-H2 project. This initiative, largely funded by the Dutch Maritime Master Plan, aims to introduce hydrogen as a clean energy source in the river cruise industry by retrofitting an existing vessel with a fully modular hydrogen and battery-electric drivetrain. The hydrogen fuel cell systems will deliver a power output exceeding 1MW, using Zepp’s X150 fuel cell modules. Jonas Brendelberger, co-founder of zepp.solutions, stated: “𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵. Research institutions such as MARIN (Maritime Research Institute Netherlands) and TNO are conducting technical validation and further development of the propulsion technology, while the HAN University of Applied Sciences focuses on energy storage and digitalization research. Shipowners and industry partners ensure the technology’s feasibility for real-world maritime operations. zepp.solutions provides the hydrogen fuel cell systems and contributes its expertise in onboard hydrogen system integration.

Van den Herik Sliedrecht, a Dutch hydraulic engineering company, has placed an order with zepp.solutions for the development of a hydrogen fuel cell generator set. The genset will be built around zepp.solutions' X150 fuel cell system and is designed to power the battery-electric crane vessel: the Prins 6. The genset set will initially be used in an assignment for the Dutch Department of Waterways and Public Works (Rijkswaterstaat). Thanks to the hydrogen-powered generator set, Van den Herik will achieve a projected annual emission reduction of 165 tonnes of CO2 eq. and 2 tonnes of NOx with the deployment of the Prins 6 alone. The purchase agreement between Van den Herik and zepp.solutions was officially ratified during the InfraTech vakbeurs in Rotterdam at Van den Herik's stand. The Netherlands Aerospace Centre (Nederlands Lucht- en Ruimtevaartcentrum) joins forces with zepp.solutions to work towards flying on liquid hydrogen, a promising development to make aviation more sustainable. This collaboration is a key pillar in NLR's ambition to conduct a demo flight in 2026. To enable this manned flight on liquid hydrogen in 2026, NLR will equip its electric-powered research aircraft, the Pipistrel Aircraft Velis Electro, with a hydrogen powertrain. A crucial element is the fuel cell system, which Zepp.solutions will develop in close cooperation with the research institute. Jan Bot, co-founder of zepp.solutions: “Our fuel cell technology has already proven itself in various sectors. We bring a lot of knowledge and experience when it comes to developing efficient and compact fuel cell systems. However, aviation offers completely different challenges. This cooperation, and to be able to learn from each other in this way, is therefore incredibly valuable. In developing the hydrogen system for the Pipistrel, together with NLR, we will not only demonstrate the potential of hydrogen in aviation but also learn lessons that can be of great value to this sector.”

zepp.solutions was allocated 10 slots in the Dutch SWiM subsidy. That means that over the next three years, at least ten zepp.europa trucks will be on the road. These Dutch hydrogen trucks, developed by zepp.solutions, will be realised within five consortia. These are set up in collaboration with H2 infrastructure providers TEAL Mobility, Green Planet Pesse and Fountain Fuel. The Dutch SWiM grant is aimed at accelerating the adoption of hydrogen in heavy transport by supporting the development of vehicles and refuelling stations by subsidising them together. Fountain Fuel, the lead partner of one of the consortia, stresses the importance of this collaboration. “Hydrogen will play an important role in the future of heavy transport, but to get there, developing supply and demand simultaneously is essential,” said Stephan Bredewold, director at Fountain Fuel. Logistics companies and transporters looking to make their fleets more sustainable are invited to get in touch. "The SWiM grant and our cooperation with strong partners such as TEAL Mobility, Green Planet Pesse and Fountain Fuel give transport companies the opportunity to seriously consider hydrogen,” said Jonas Brendelberger, co-founder of zepp.solutions. “We are ready to realise emission-free logistics together.”
