PRODUCT CHEMIST WITHIN OUR (international) R&D department

Within this position, you will be an indispensable link in the R&D Aurorium Netherlands team, and you will work closely with colleagues anywhere in the world, not to mention our external business partners.

To meet the challenging needs of the new frontiers that Aurorium is pursuing, you are passionate about developing new products, leveraging existing and new ideas based on technical knowledge, industry experience, and engaging with customers and prospects. In short, you will not only operate internally but also externally.

What are your activities and responsibilities?

  • Contributing to the development of new solutions for Personal Care, Pharma, Mobility or other areas;
  • Utilize technical knowledge to address project challenges and develop innovative products;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address customer needs and ensure successful product implementation;
  • Work together with our customers to solve their challenges and deliver meaningful solutions;
  • Solving chemical problems through the use of literature, experimentation, and data interpretation
  • Effectively communicate the results of laboratory work through written and oral reports/presentations;
  • Transferring technology from the laboratory through scale-up and pilot work to manufacturing through effective project management, and translation of technical criteria into manufacturing procedures;
  • Provide technical support towards our customers;
  • Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and arrangements;
  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly;
  • Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times;
  • Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business;
  • Participates in problem solving;
  • Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance.

What are we looking for?

Your short- to medium-term drive starts, among other things, with generating ideas for new products, and realizing their development from laboratory scale, through pilot plant scale-up to finally commercial scale.

It may just be that a customer visit to our customer somewhere in Europe will be part of your work, it is important that you like to travel and that you can stand your ground when traveling abroad.

Being hands-on in the lab inspires you, and you don't shy away from exploring new techniques. Your interest is much broader than your specialization and includes a variety of technical fields.

You enjoy working both in a team as well as individually in projects with deadlines. A dynamic environment at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen, among others, gives you energy and you maintain the focus to achieve set goals. Prioritization comes naturally to you.

While you're tech-savvy, you'll be able to communicate (effectively) with non-technical people on technical topics.

The position is located in our laboratory at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen and requires the ability to travel.

Your Education

  • Bachelor in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical engineering or related field.


Your Experience

  • 1-5 years hands-on experience in a chemical laboratory, preferably within an R&D or product development environment;
  • Experience in hypothesis testing and data analysis;
  • Project participation: experience working as part of a project team, with familiarity with project management processes like Stage-Gate;
  • Willingness to travel within Europe;
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
