Gecombineerd vervoer. How it works
How it works?
We offer three main types of rail freight transport, single wagon, block train and combined transport. Combined transport is what happens when we bring together other strengths of environmentally friendly rail with the advantages of other transport modes. With its subsidiaries and affiliates such as TFG, Transfer, ACHE and Bihar, DB Cargo is a full service provider and combined transport and use as a state-of-the-art wagon fleet for its customer specific solutions. We provide a full range of combined transport services throughout Europe. Environmentally friendly rail transport makes DB cargoes combined transport especially sustainable. We emit 80% less CO2 than lorries, avoiding around 2,000, 000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year throughout combined transport alone. One train can replace up to 52 norries. DB Congo has its own container terminal since 17 European countries and China, and also offers depots and warehouse space. Our customers benefit because we are close to the major transshipment terminals and seaports and we provide full agency services with customer brokerage and resource planning from start to finish. A well known example of combined transport is Seaport Services. The goods from overseas arrive by container ship at western ports, southern ports or German seaports. They are distributed from there to their destination via hubs like the Mushroom Marshalling Yard. This also works the other way round of course. DB Cargo also provides combined transport services on all continental routes. And combined transport. The goods never leave their transport containers. Only containers, swap bodies and semi trailers are transhipped. That's how we get the goods on track.
