🌬️ Look what the wind blew in – statistics from Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) show that over half of electricity production in the Netherlands now comes from renewable sources, marking the seventh month this year that renewable energy produced more than fossil fuels. 🍃 A combination of strong winds and a significant increase in offshore wind turbines led to a doubling of wind energy production last month leading to a 23% increase compared to September last year. ☀️ And it’s not just the wind turbines. Due to the growing number of solar panels, solar panel production grew more than 7%. Overall this is a key milestone representing a strategic move to reduce fossil fuel reliance, as well as supporting climate commitments on both a national and European level. 🏙️ Amsterdam continues to lead in the energy transition, with half of its rooftops covered in solar panels and home to one of the most sustainable ports in the EU, demonstrating its commitment to addressing environmental challenges and fostering a sustainable future. 🔗 Find out how key facts and figures about what Amsterdam is doing to combat climate change here: https://lnkd.in/e95P3Ve2 #SustainableAmsterdam #GreenEnergy #GreenAmsterdam #EnergyTransition

❤️🩹 Incredible news for cardiac patients across Europe – Amsterdam UMC have implanted the first double wireless pacemaker in Europe. 🫀 Traditional pacemakers are a box like shape which is implanted under the collarbone with wires running through a vein to the heart – these wires are fragile and at times can break, often leading to repeat surgeries. 🩺 So how is this wireless pacemaker changing things? The pacemaker consists of two miniature units placed in the heart’s upper and lower chambers and maintains synchronisation with each other through electric pulses. The pacemaker is inserted through the groin, minimising the risk of infection whilst preventing chest scarring. 🏥 With one in ten patients developing complications due to the wires that run through the bloodstream – this wireless technique has proved even better for patients and will have a positive effect nationally and across Europe. 💊 Amsterdam UMC is known worldwide for their cardiovascular breakthroughs – such as developing AI algorithms to predict the likelihood of heart attacks and their genetic research to identify which drugs are the most beneficial for patients. 🔗 Find out more details about how this new wireless pacemaker will change lives: https://lnkd.in/ep-GwmPa #AmsterdamHealthTech #CardiacCare #PatientCare
