🏆 We are delighted to share that Hula Earth - Biodiversity Monitoring with Satellites and loT Sensors - took first place in the ESA Business Applications Challenge at this year’s INNOspace Masters competition. Our challenge, ‘Space for Every Industry’, invited applicants to put forward innovative solutions for Earth, using space technology. Hula Earth’s comprehensive solution for biodiversity monitoring and impact assessment uses satellite imagery and IoT sensor data to deliver biodiversity data points that are not currently available, with unparalleled accuracy, real-time insights, and automated compliance reporting, all in one integrated platform. Rita Rinaldo, Head of Projects and Studies Implementation Division at the European Space Agency - ESA described Hula Earth’s solution as an ‘excellent example of purposeful innovation’. ⚓ NEW WEBINAR: ‘Maritime Decarbonisation - Decarbonisation Through Maritime Autonomy’, Tuesday, 29 October, 10:00 GMT/11:00 CET. As part of our umbrella call for proposals on the theme of maritime decarbonisation, we will introduce a new sub-theme aimed at developing innovative autonomous services for the maritime sector. While autonomous shipping does not directly achieve decarbonisation, maritime autonomous systems offer transformative opportunities to make the sector cleaner, more energy-efficient, and environmentally sustainable. For example, the reduction or removal of onboard life support infrastructure, opens the door for more compact vessels being able to utilise cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, and unlocks new alternative routes. This sub-theme includes, but is not limited to, the following topics: ▪ Enhancing the efficiency of autonomous vessels ▪ Navigating and overcoming regulatory barriers ▪ Advancing shore-based infrastructure ▪ Protecting autonomous systems from external threats ▪ Supporting the next generation of seafarers (at sea and onshore) ▪ Increasing autonomy levels ▪ Improving situational awareness for autonomous operations Find further details and register for the webinar ➡ https://lnkd.in/e5eGHZfu

It was a pleasure to join the Sustainable Finance Live event https://lnkd.in/eScmChK2 in its journey from 'field to trade', exploring the role of natural value in the supply chain and how nature can be assessed, quantified and priced. Thank you to Richard Peers for the invitation and the amazing organisation. Pleased to see #space in the agenda, showcasing its value in understanding and assessing both physical climate risks and nature-related risks and impact. From greenhouse gas emissions to biodiversity and ecosystems, from the extent of flooding and wildfires to water pollution, the information on assets and areas of interest that we can obtain, geolocate and transmit thanks to space data and technology is invaluable and brings a key element of transparency. Looking forward to continue the discussion! 🤝 Nature is exactly the topic of our recently issued funding call. At ESA Space Solutions we are actively supporting the development of services and solutions that tackle the challenges of the sustainable finance ecosystem and of the wider group of stakeholders looking into nature risks and opportunities 🎯 Check all the details including how to apply in the link below: https://lnkd.in/eeVBqb7T Finextra ResponsibleRisk Ltd #spacesolutions #sustainablefinance #naturebasedsolutions
