This year, DNV was chosen as the case company for the prestigious NHH International Case Competition 2024, hosted by the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) 🎓🌍 The competition brought together 15 talented teams from 11 countries to tackle a complex business challenge set by us in DNV. The teams had just 24 hours to answer the critical question: “What should be DNV’s 5-year strategic approach to accelerate the transition to more digital and recurring revenue business models, while still maintaining competitive advantage from deep domain expertise?” Kjetil M. Ebbesberg, our Chief Financial Officer, shares his thoughts: “DNV is a global leader within our domains, and we need to constantly ensure technological and commercial advancement – to stay in the lead. We work on a wide front today, engaging with established players as well as with start-ups and “new kids on the block”, those that have the curiosity and drive to explore new ground. We saw the opportunity of letting young business academics have a look at DNV through the case competition, to see if they could find ways that we could speed up transformations towards delivering our services through more digital and recurring revenue business models. At the same time, we get to know how young and upcoming professionals around the world think and as a bonus they get a chance to get to know this 160-year young and vital company named DNV.” The competition week wrapped up on Friday 27 September, with HKU Business School being crowned the winners by a distinguished jury from DNV, Academia, and the corporate world 🏆 The winning team took the victory by proposing a maritime emissions pooling platform that enables trading of emissions reduction credits, helping clients adapt to new regulations. In addition, the team introduced an EMT simulation technology designed to enhance the safety and control of large power grids through advanced grid modelling.
