A new perspective of the Digital Divide in healthcare Our postdoc Meghan Bradway examines how the digital divide in healthcare has moved from a linear and static three level perspective to a more nuanced understanding. To truly bridge the digital divide, we must consider the connection between access, skills and outcomes, and look at these areas with a more human-centered view and address the unique needs of diverse populations. Meghan’s important work is funded by Polenprosjektet, Tackling social inequalities in health with the use of e-health and telemedicine solutions - (https://lnkd.in/ddua7Y_J) and will be used to support the WARIFA project, Watching the risk factors: Artificial intelligence and the personalized prevention and management of chronic conditions (https://lnkd.in/dxgRiRnC) Illustration concept: Meghan Bradway, design: Jarl-Stian Olsen #digitaldivide

🚀 Nye milepæler i digital helse i Europa!

Last week, several of our HIT group members attended the 34th Medical Informatics Europe Conference #MIE2024 in Athens, Greece! The theme of the congress was “Digital Health and Informatics Innovations for Sustainable Health Care Systems”, aiming to advance international co-operation and dissemination of information in Medical Informatics in Europe and to promote research and development in medical informatics🔎 As seen in the pictures below, André Henriksen, Dillys Larbi, and Elia Gabarron held presentations during the conference!👏 We also traveled with colleagues from UiT who are not part of the HIT group, and we had a lovely (and very warm) stay in Athens!🌞🕶 Eirik Årsand, Tina Rishaug, Erlend H Farbu, and Anja Davis Norbye

Artificial intelligence can change the world, but it must be used responsibly. On Wednesday we pitched our vision for the future of AI to potential collaborators. We firmly believe that the development and use of AI must be democratic. Our idea therefore manifests as: AI Democratization for All (AIDeA). AIDeA envisions AI technologies that are accessible, fair, and beneficial to all parts of society. To achieve this, AIDeA will focus on three core levels of research: 🗳️ Foundational values (how principles of democracy can be effective in AI development) 🏛️ Governance (how regulatory frameworks can enhance trust and accountability) 💡 Technological advancement (sharing knowledge and providing fair access to AI tech) Join us in shaping the future of AI: https://lnkd.in/dgq28dyP
