We’re thrilled to play our part in making sailing more accessible to young people, especially as more women continue to stay involved in the sport than ever before. This past weekend, 84 students from 10 universities across Norway competed fiercely in the Student National Championship, racing the same J/70 boats used in the Norwegian Sailing League—proudly sponsored by Höegh Autoliners. The league format has been key in keeping more sailors active, even after they begin their studies. “It has opened up sailing for many young sailors who have moved away from home and no longer have their own boats,” says Per Christian Bordal of the Norwegian Sailing Federation. As Magnus Hedemark, project manager for the Norwegian Sailing League, adds: “The Norwegian Sailing League will celebrate its 10th season next year, but the real impact has been in the past three years. Without your support, none of this would have been possible. We wouldn’t have had so many young people or women joining the league.” “What you’ve contributed to the Norwegian Sailing League has, in many ways, saved the sport of sailing from modern challenges like time constraints, rising costs, and an aging demographic.” Höegh Autoliners has proudly sponsored the Norwegian Sailing League in partnership with the Norwegian Sailing Federation since 2022. This commitment reflects our dedication to a cleaner, more sustainable maritime future and our pledge to protect the seas we traverse. Our shared values with the Norwegian Sailing Federation, focused on ocean sustainability, make us proud to sponsor the sport, ensuring that more young people can experience the joys of sailing. #CleanSeas #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Sailing #Maritime SailLogic// Norges Seilforbund

The shipping industry emits approximately 940 million tonnes of CO2 annually. A jaw-dropping number - but not even the worst part! Because, without significant measures, emissions could increase substantially by 2050. Already now the 940 million tonnes is way too much! The aim should not, however, be for that number to not increase. It should be for that number to decrease. All the way to zero! At Höegh, we recognize the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact from the global shipping industry. Our mission is net zero by 2040. That is why we have signed the Hamburg Declaration on the Decarbonisation of Global Shipping. Because luckily, there are others like us in the industry. Others also wish to establish green shipping corridors. The Hamburg Declaration consists of ports, shipping companies operating internationally, producers of green fuels from industrialized, emerging, and developing countries, shipbuilders, financial institutions, and operators of terminals and logistics companies. Together we have created a foundation for a collaborative effort towards sustainable maritime operations and the establishment of green shipping corridors. Because shipping should be cleaner. And greener. #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Shipping #Maritime #AuroraClass #HSC24 Photo credit: Hamburg Sustainability Conference 2024 - Press (https://lnkd.in/eZFFuxRq)

The man in this video is our COO, Sebjørn Dahl. The fact that he has been at Höegh Autoliners for 32 years and sailed the Norwegian coastline for 11 years as a naval officer before that speaks volumes about his extensive maritime experience. Shipping is his passion, and his been on a clear mission with our Aurora Class project. He wanted to transform our industry by proving that net zero deep sea shipping is possible. Four years ago, he surfaced the idea to build the vessels of the future. Since then, he and so many others have spent day and night finding new, smart solutions. Over two million working hours to be exact💪🏻🔨👷 The result is something we could not be more proud of. The Aurora Class vessels. The largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers ever built. Two of them are already sailing the oceans with more cargo on board than ever before on a Ro/Ro vessel. Ten more of them will commence their commercial operations in the coming years. The Auroras was the vision of maritime experience and insight. And became a reality through competent collaboration in-house, with industry-leading partners and the best shipyard in the world. Thanks Sebjørn! And thanks to every Höegh-colleague and partner who’s contributed along the way. Together, we are making the impossible possible 🌎💚🚢 Forward towards a greener, cleaner shipping industry! Thank you too Playroom Event for another great delivery. #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #InnovatingForAGreenerFuture #Maritime #Shipping #Aurora

We are still all smiles seeing these pictures.    It is a special feeling seeing the Norwegian flag flying high onboard our Höegh Aurora.   Even though it has been almost two months since the naming ceremony.   With the Aurora Class, we are raising the demand for ammonia as a viable, zero-carbon maritime fuel.    From 2027, the first Aurora Class vessel will be sailing on 100 percent green ammonia.    Already now, we have partnered with several of the world’s leading ammonia producers to ensure the supply and usage of green ammonia.   Ammonia is the future fuel of choice for us.    But to achieve meaningful change, sustainable fuels must become as affordable as fossil fuels.   We took part in taking another step towards that at the 79th United Nations General Assembly.    In the Big Apple, we signed the joint maritime statement “Call for Global Maritime Decarbonisation” together with industry frontrunners.   To support a global regulatory framework that accelerates the use of zero and near-zero Green House Gas (GHG) fuels. In a just, inclusive, ambitious, and timely manner.   Let’s all take part in #ChangingMaritime! Let’s have that #GreenBalanceMechanism! Let’s broaden out the #SailingForSustainability!   #HöeghAutoliners #Shipping #AuroraClass #Maritime

These fuel tanks are so massive that even 200-meter-long, 40-meter-wide vessels need to be built around them. So massive that replacing them after finishing the vessel is almost impossible. And so massively impressive that they can carry LNG today and 100 percent green ammonia in the future. The size of these tanks is 3,400 cubic meters and they are 5 decks high! These features are some of the reasons why the tanks onboard our Aurora Class vessels are the single most expensive component on the largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers sailing the oceans today. And because they are a vital part of us sailing for sustainability, reducing emissions extensively compared to the current industry average - and to virtually no emissions from 2027, when the first Aurora Class vessel will be sailing on green ammonia. We are lucky to be partnered with TGE Marine Gas Engineering for the supply of tanks, compressors, and pumps onboard both Höegh Aurora and Höegh Borealis - and the remaining 10 Aurora Class vessels that we have invested in. We are partnering with the best suppliers in the industry to reach net zero. And their products are outstanding. Not just now, but also in 20- and 30-years time. We could speak for a very long time about these massive tanks. But there is probably no one better at doing just that than TGE Marine´s Senior Sales Director and tank expert, Dieter Hilmes. Watch the video and learn how we use boil-off gas as energy onboard our Auroras. #SailingForSustainability #Shipping #Maritime #HöeghAutoliners

🌎 Today from the UN Headquarter in New York, we, business leaders, call on all International Maritime Organization (IMO) Member States to support a global regulatory framework that, in a just, inclusive, ambitious and timely manner, accelerates the use of zero and near-zero Green House Gas (GHG) fuels. Hoegh Autoliners is proud to have signed the joint maritime statement “Call for Global Maritime Decarbonisation” together with industry frontrunners. Shipping and the maritime cluster constitute the backbone of the global economy. But we also account for close to 3% of global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. To achieve meaningful change, sustainable fuels must become as affordable as fossil fuels. Member states of the International Maritime Organization can make this a reality by agreeing on a set of measures that ensures price parity for scalable zero-emission fuels. We call for a #GreenBalanceMechanism to help close the price gap between fossil and green fuels for shipping. Signing the statement is an important step towards decarbonization of the maritime industry. Next up is the governments’ action! #UNGA #HöeghAutoliners #Maritime #Shipping

Decarbonizing the maritime industry is the number one goal! Doing that, while navigating the complexities of climate action, makes global collaboration more important than ever. That is why, we are proud to participate in the United Nations Global Compact’s High-Level Ocean of the Future meeting today. It is kickstarting the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly here in New York. We’re joining industry leaders, government representatives, and UN officials to address the crucial role of shipping in a sustainable ocean economy. Our investment in 12 Aurora Class vessels - the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers - is a testament to our commitment to innovation and sustainability. These vessels will help power at least 5% of our deep-sea operations with clean ammonia by 2030. That is just the beginning of what’s possible. If we make it possible together. Public-private partnerships and advancements in green fuel infrastructure will be key to accelerating this transition. Together, we can chart a new course for decarbonized shipping and ensure a greener future for generations to come. That is our goal. Our vision for the future. We need it. The oceans need it. And global trade needs it! #SailingForSustainability #Shipping #HöeghAutoliners #UNGA Andreas Enger

We are honoured to receive that kind of praise from a Prime Minister! Last week, the Norwegian Prime Minister Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre attended the naming ceremony for our Höegh Borealis, the second vessel of the Aurora Class – the largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers ever built. He did so, by expressing his admiration for our commitment to sustainability: "It was both impressive and insightful to witness how Höegh Autoliners ASA is making shipping more environmentally friendly through new and green technology,” Mr Jonas Gahr Støre says on the Norwegian Government’s website (link in comments). Höegh Borealis will be cutting carbon emissions per car transported by up to 58 per cent from the current industry average. From 2027, the first Aurora class vessel will be powered by green ammonia, eliminating nearly all carbon emissions. The Aurora Class is a monumental leap towards our 2040 net-zero emissions goal. So, thank you to the Norwegian Prime Minister for addressing the importance of #SailingForSustainability. And for highlighting how not only we but Norwegian companies and the Norwegian maritime cluster are leading the way: "Norwegian businesses can deliver world-class green technology. They are helping to build the solutions of tomorrow." Höegh Borealis was officially named on September 11th during a grand ceremony at the China Merchant Heavy Industry shipyard in Jiangsu. The vessel sails under the Norwegian flag. The following day, a stunning display of the Aurora Borealis lit up the skies over Norway—a remarkable coincidence observed by many Höegh Autoliners employees. With the Aurora Class we are sailing for sustainability, pioneering efforts to combat pollution in a hard-to abate segment. We are setting new standards for sustainable deep-sea transportation

A remarkable example of global collaboration across industries, borders, and cultures! Setting a whole new course for sustainable deep-sea transportation. In the presence of the Norwegian Prime Minister, Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre, and other high-ranking official delegates, our #2 Aurora Class vessel, the Höegh Borealis, was named today. A grand ceremony on the docks of China Merchants Heavy Industry’s yard in Jiangsu, we celebrated the delivery of the world’s largest and most environmentally car carrier ever built – another monumental leap towards Höegh Autoliners ’ 2040 net-zero emissions goal. The Höegh Borealis is a testament to what can be achieved when best-in-class companies from all over the world come together using their expertise to create something never done before. She – and the rest of our 12 Aurora Class vessels - underscores the importance of pooling our collective expertise and resources. With the Aurora Class, we are sailing for sustainability, pioneering efforts to combat pollution in a hard-to-abate segment. We are setting new standards for sustainable deep-sea transportation. When the Höegh Borealis sets out on her maiden voyage, she will be cutting carbon emissions per car transported by up to 58 percent from the current industry average. From 2027, the first Aurora class vessel will be powered by green ammonia, eliminating nearly all carbon emissions. The Aurora Class meets the demands of our growing number of carbon-conscious customers seeking emission reductions and sustainable transportation. Together, we will not rest until we achieve net zero operations!
