Royal handshakes and prime ministerial praise. Yesterday’s Zero Conference in Oslo was something of an experience for us. Norwegian Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre kicked off the event by singling out Höegh Autoliners, acknowledging our commitment and concrete actions to ensure a more sustainable shipping industry. That means a lot to us, as a greener more sustainable industry is our goal. And something we’ve worked hard for and invested heavily in. Also, the guest of honor at the event, H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, came by our stand! Our COO, Sebjørn Dahl, was there, ready to explain everything about our Aurora Class and how we are removing carbon from one of the hardest-to-abate sectors, changing the perception of deep-sea transportation. Today, shipping accounts for around 3 percent of all global emissions. 940 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. 90% of shipping emissions come from deep-sea transportation. That needs to change, and Höegh Autoliners is leading that change with our Aurora Class. The vessels will be cutting carbon emissions per car transported by up to 58 percent from the current industry average, representing the future of the shipping industry. In 2027, when the first Aurora is powered by clean ammonia, nearly all carbon emissions will be eliminated. That is why, Sebjørn Dahl confidently could tell the Crown Prince that with our Auroras, we are sailing for sustainability. #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Shipping #Maritime #AuroraClass

Big day for us today! We kicked the day off by reporting another solid financial performance in the third quarter of 2024. The general market remains strong, and we do not expect that to change much for the last three months of 2024. Also, we have secured more cargo under-long term contracts, securing freight rates at high levels also for this period. And with both Höegh Aurora and Höegh Borealis now in operation, we expect our lifting capacity to increase somewhat in Q4. “This marks a new chapter for the Company, taking us one step close to our net zero emission goal in 2040,” says Höegh Autoliners CEO, Andreas Enger about the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers currently sailing the seas. The deliveries of newbuilds to other operators as well will gradually take away some of the pressure seen in our industry. And while the geopolitical and macro-economic situation in the world continues to be challenging, we do not foresee that to change the market dynamics or impact the results in Q4, where we expect an EBITDA result for Q4 in line with the last nine months run rate. #SailingForSustainability #HAUTO #HöeghAutoliners #Shipping #Maritime #AuroraClass

What a day in Hamburg yesterday! The crown jewel of our new building program, the Höegh Aurora, made its first port call in Hamburg, and we celebrated this milestone with over 200 customers, partners, friends and colleagues. The vessel, serving as the backdrop, marks the beginning of a new era for sustainable deep-sea shipping. The Höegh Aurora and her seven upcoming sister vessels will reduce carbon emissions by 58 percent per transported car compared to the current industry average. Starting in 2027, our remaining four Aurora vessels will have the capability to run on clean ammonia directly from the yard, making them net-zero🍀 A few years ago, this would have been considered impossible, but we have proven that it can be done! At the event, we hosted a panel discussing the future of net-zero emissions and clean ammonia in shipping. The panelists were unanimous: everything is moving faster than expected, and clean ammonia could become a viable fuel for deep-sea shipping. The industry is undergoing a massive transformation, and we are proud to be one of the key drivers, together with our close partners. Thank you to Hans-Olav Raen from Yara Clean Ammonia, Bjarne Foldager from MAN Energy Solutions, Torben Nørgaard from Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, and Timo Bollerhey from the H2Global Foundation and a special thanks to our Chief Customer Sustainability Officer, Dr. Mirjam Peters for guiding us through the discussion. Finally, thank you to all the customers and partners who joined us for this celebration! #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Ammonia #Aurora #Shipping #Maritime Playroom Event

Celebrating Höegh Aurora’s maiden voyage. And her first port call in Hamburg, the Gateway to the World. This feels like a fitting place for the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier ever built. Today is a momentous occasion for us at Höegh Autoliners. Two weeks after signing the Hamburg Declaration on the Decarbonisation of Global Shipping, Höegh Aurora is in Hamburg. Here, we are celebrating the joint commitment to establish green shipping corridors that utilize sustainable green fuels while swiftly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the environmental impact of the global shipping industry. Höegh Aurora is changing our industry. Together with our partners and customers, we are pioneering efforts to remove carbon from one of the hardest-to-abate sectors, changing the perception of deep-sea transportation. Together, we are making sustainable deep-sea shipping possible. #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #AuroraClass #Shipping #Maritime #RemovingCarbon #GreenShippingCorridors

Almost exactly a year ago today a woman vastly unknown to the rest of the crew boarded the Höegh Jeddah. In Santander in Spain, she embarked on an ocean journey that would take her from Europe via Africa to Asia. Almost two months at sea. Without knowing how the days and weeks surrounded by blue would affect her. She was not on board to assist the crew. She was there to watch them. Experience them and what the ocean does to people when they are away from their loved ones for long periods. She wasn’t there to reveal anything, merely observe and learn. The woman’s name is Erika Fatland, a Norwegian travel writer. She was onboard Höegh Jeddah (and onboard Höegh Trooper from Africa to Asia) as part of her research for her new book, “The Navigator. A Journey through the Lost Empire of the Portuguese”. It is not often we allow outsiders onboard our vessels. Almost never, actually. But her mission was important. She set out to gain a bigger understanding of the endeavors of sailors in the 15th Century as well as an insight into the daily life at sea in the 21st century. Our seafarers are cornerstones of our company. But unlike our employees who work out of land-based offices, they cannot go home when they get off from work. And they only see each other – and the sea – for weeks and months on end. Their stories are often untold. Both the good and the difficult parts of their life. They deserve praise. For coping with being away. But also for being crucial to world trade. For connecting the world. Erika tells their story. With an incredible eye for details. Congratulations on your book, Erika Fatland! And on the fine reviews. And thank you for taking your time to learn about life at sea. #HöeghAutoliners #SailingForSustainability #Shipping #LifeAtSea #Maritime #kaggeforlag Kagge Forlag // Leif Hoegh // Sebjørn Dahl

Sailing for sustainability is not just something we say. It’s something we do. And we take our commitment to leading the green transformation in the deep-sea segment of shipping very seriously. Through our strategy, our billion-dollar investment in the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly car carriers ever built, technology application, and project implementation. We are building dual-fuel, ammonia-ready PCTCs to reduce the carbon footprint on transportation for our sustainability-focused customers. Vessels that will be able to run on ammonia from 2027. To succeed requires ambitious, knowledgeable, visionary people. People with a mission. People who can get us to net zero in 2040. One of them is Dr. Mirjam Peters. Our Chief Customer Sustainability Officer. Last week, The Sustainability People Company named her one of 21 outstanding sustainability managers and acknowledged her for engagement in the German economy. Congratulations, Mirjam. And thank you for your efforts and dedication to making it a better tomorrow. #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Maritime #Shipping #NetZero #Decarbonization

We talk a lot about our new Aurora Class vessels. But our older models are beauties too. Watch as Höegh Shanghai leaves the dry dock in Beihai in China late last month. And imagine playing basketball on the top deck with that view! An impressive skyline followed by what almost seems the indefinite big blue. Amazing! #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Shipping #Maritime #7850CEU

We’re thrilled to play our part in making sailing more accessible to young people, especially as more women continue to stay involved in the sport than ever before. This past weekend, 84 students from 10 universities across Norway competed fiercely in the Student National Championship, racing the same J/70 boats used in the Norwegian Sailing League—proudly sponsored by Höegh Autoliners. The league format has been key in keeping more sailors active, even after they begin their studies. “It has opened up sailing for many young sailors who have moved away from home and no longer have their own boats,” says Per Christian Bordal of the Norwegian Sailing Federation. As Magnus Hedemark, project manager for the Norwegian Sailing League, adds: “The Norwegian Sailing League will celebrate its 10th season next year, but the real impact has been in the past three years. Without your support, none of this would have been possible. We wouldn’t have had so many young people or women joining the league.” “What you’ve contributed to the Norwegian Sailing League has, in many ways, saved the sport of sailing from modern challenges like time constraints, rising costs, and an aging demographic.” Höegh Autoliners has proudly sponsored the Norwegian Sailing League in partnership with the Norwegian Sailing Federation since 2022. This commitment reflects our dedication to a cleaner, more sustainable maritime future and our pledge to protect the seas we traverse. Our shared values with the Norwegian Sailing Federation, focused on ocean sustainability, make us proud to sponsor the sport, ensuring that more young people can experience the joys of sailing. #CleanSeas #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Sailing #Maritime SailLogic// Norges Seilforbund

The shipping industry emits approximately 940 million tonnes of CO2 annually. A jaw-dropping number - but not even the worst part! Because, without significant measures, emissions could increase substantially by 2050. Already now the 940 million tonnes is way too much! The aim should not, however, be for that number to not increase. It should be for that number to decrease. All the way to zero! At Höegh, we recognize the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact from the global shipping industry. Our mission is net zero by 2040. That is why we have signed the Hamburg Declaration on the Decarbonisation of Global Shipping. Because luckily, there are others like us in the industry. Others also wish to establish green shipping corridors. The Hamburg Declaration consists of ports, shipping companies operating internationally, producers of green fuels from industrialized, emerging, and developing countries, shipbuilders, financial institutions, and operators of terminals and logistics companies. Together we have created a foundation for a collaborative effort towards sustainable maritime operations and the establishment of green shipping corridors. Because shipping should be cleaner. And greener. #SailingForSustainability #HöeghAutoliners #Shipping #Maritime #AuroraClass #HSC24 Photo credit: Hamburg Sustainability Conference 2024 - Press (https://lnkd.in/eZFFuxRq)
