When one teaches, two learn 💡💡 We're proud of our colleague, Johanne Eide Joyce, who held a lecture for students at the Advanced LLM in Energy Law (NSELP) program at University of Oslo this week. Johanne spoke on the topic of power purchase agreements (PPA). These are long-term electricity supply agreements between two parties, usually between a power producer and a customer, and they're crucial in financing the energy transition. Hydro Rein provides PPAs to support big industrial customers in their decarbonization journey, and we also believe in the power of knowledge sharing to drive the energy transition forward!

We love getting visitors! ❤️ Last week, Norsk Hydro CEO Eivind Kallevik together with Hydro Energy EVP Kari Ekelund Thørud, and Carlos Eduardo Neves and Sandy Sutherland from Hydro Bauxite & Alumina paid a visit to Hydro Rein’s solar complex Mendubim! This project is developed, constructed, and operated by Hydro Rein, Scatec ASA and Equinor. Alunorte, one of the world’s largest alumina refineries, is the major offtaker and also a co-owner. For Hydro, this partnership represents a significant step forward in the commitment to sustainability and an important contribution to the decarbonisation of Alunorte, where coal-fired boilers are being replaced with electric boilers. A big thank you to Eivind Kallevik and the entire team for their commitment to sustainability and for inspiring us to continue pushing the boundaries of renewable energy. Together, we’re taking emissions out of industry!

Final turbine installed! 💪 Landmark moment for the Ventos de São Zacarias wind power project in Brazil. The assembly of the 80th wind turbine this week went well, marking the completion of this crucial stage of the project. Safety, sustainability, and performance played the leading role since the beginning. Ventos de São Zacarias has an installed capacity of 456 MW and is expected to produce around 2 TWh of electricity per year ⚡ Now the focus is on ensuring that all turbines are 100% operational, generating clean energy and promoting development. Thanks to everyone involved!

Meet our super team of project developers! 👋 To be able to grow further within renewable energy, we have doubled the size of the project development team in less than a year. Luckily, we have been able to recruit these amazing people. The team has: 🧐 Nearly 200 years of combined experience in renewables 🎓 Backgrounds from top universities, including University of Oxford, Imperial College London, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, National University of Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University Singapore 😍 Gender balance and strong focus on diversity, with 8 different nationalities and 57% women 🌱 A determined commitment to international standards on sustainable development We are all set to drive renewable energy development forward in the Nordics and Brazil! 🚀

Ba-a-a-ah! Say hi to our new operations and maintenance staff at the 2-MWp ground-mounted solar plant in Sjunnen, #Sweden 🐏🐑👋 The sheep team has been employed to keep the grass down around the solar panels, and they do a great job! We are proud to have completed the installation of this solar PV system at Hydro Extrusions' aluminium recycler in Sjunnen earlier this year. The project is a step on the path to zero emissions for Hydro Extrusions ♻ Producing renewable energy in full harmony with nature and industry is definitely a win-win relation-sheep! 😉 💡 Learn more about the project: https://lnkd.in/d3tiqW5F

Transaction completed! Hydro Rein now has not only one – but two strong owners 💪💪 Norsk Hydro today announced it has completed the transaction for the sale of 49.9 percent of renewable energy company Hydro Rein to Macquarie Asset Management. This is a complementary partnership between an industry giant and one of the world’s largest green investors. For us in Hydro Rein, it means we get access to capital and competencies to grow profitably at a faster pace. We’re looking forward to beginning the next chapter of Hydro Rein’s growth journey.
