Successfully completed nine weeks of longevity trials! The Sencell sensor that has been implanted under the skin of the dog Elli has now passed an operational lifetime of two months and still counting. During these months, the Lifecare Veterinary team located at the NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences has received large amounts of data. This validates the functionality of the Sencell sensor and the sensor technology itself. The results from the study, which has been ongoing throughout the summer, is in line with what we expected. However, it is very encouraging to achieve the positive results of longevity in real-world settings. As we have passed two months of operational lifetime, based on a wireless readout, we are proud to conclude that the initial part of the longevity study is a success. 👨🔬 Previous in-vitro studies have confirmed sensor lifetime of six months. ⏳ With this initial conclusion of more than 9 weeks operational lifetime in vivo – in real life settings – we exceed the operational lifetime of all the major CGM systems in the market with a factor of 4,5 or more. This is, of course, interesting in a future commercial perspective 🐕 The main purpose of the first sensor of the longevity trial is to investigate and confirm operational lifetime in a longevity perspective. ❤️ The Team at Lifecare Veterinary monitors the first pet-patient Elli on a daily basis, including reports from her owner. Elli is in good health and shows no signs of discomfort related to the implant. Alongside the initial part of the longevity study, we are preparing to enroll additional patients in the study to confirm these first results, and to intensify the study beyond sensor functionality, focusing sharper on glucose readings from both healthy dogs and dogs with diabetes. With this approach we expect to gain increased understanding of the sensor functionality in real life conditions. #diabetes #veterinary #medtech #cgm #sensortechnology #hundehelse Joacim Holter Prof. Dr. Dr. med. We are pleased to announce a strategic cooperation with OneTwo Analytics AB (OneTwo), a Swedish-based company specializing in data analytics of diabetes data. The strategic cooperation will provide Lifecare access to OneTwo Analytics' portfolio of comprehensive AI and ML based software for self-monitoring and automatic interpretation of CGM data. Furthermore, OneTwo will act as Lifecare’s digital development partner on a consultancy base, as Lifecare intends to commercialize the software tool in the field of veterinary medicine on a license-base. ✅ This marks a significant milestone in the advancement of veterinary medicine, aiming to bring cutting-edge analytical software developed for the human diabetes market to the veterinary field. 👩⚕️ OneTwo will leverage its expertise in data analytics and software development to create a digital infrastructure tailored to the needs of veterinary professionals. 📲 As part of the strategic cooperation, OneTwo will also develop a user-friendly mobile application compatible with both iOS and Android platforms. This app will facilitate seamless data transmission from the Sencell sensors to cloud servers and enable bi-directional communication with the customized analytical software. The digital infrastructure will not only serve the veterinary sector but also retain compatibility for potential human healthcare applications. 📈 We will take the lead in commercializing this advanced analytical software within the global veterinary market. The partnership grants us an exclusive, worldwide license to modify, market, and brand the software under its name. This software is designed to analyze glucose data from CGM sensors, providing critical insights into glucose deviations and fluctuations, which are vital for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diabetes. – Lifecare’s vision has always been to make glucose monitoring easier for the patient using our Sencell sensor. In order to meet that customer promise, we must also be able to easily provide insight into valuable diabetes data through innovative and user-friendly software solutions, says Joacim Holter, CEO of Lifecare. Yesterday afternoon, Lifecare presented at the International MARSS Conference on Manipulation Automation and Robotics at Small Scale in Delft, Netherlands. The talk entitled „Autodeposition of Nanosensors for Glucose Monitoring Application“ was given by our lead bioinformatics scientist Rustam Giliaziev and was very well received by the attending audience. The presentation described the automation process for the NTR-Sensor deposition on the pressure membrane of our glucose sensor that was developed by our Nanobiosensor expert team: Dr. Boris Stamm, Dr. Preeti SHARMA, Christoph Füger, Rustam Giliaziev, Vrushali Godse At Lifecare Nanobiosensors in Reutlingen, Germany. This process is a key step forward to our automated Sencell manufacturing process and will help to increase the quality and accuracy of the sensor product, as it eliminates the risk of human errors in the sophisticated Deposition process by FEBID (fast electrone beam induced deposition). I have spent three days at the 2024 American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions in Orlando. Exciting and valuable for me and for Lifecare, browsing through loads of information in scientific sessions as well as industry sessions. I took the opportunity to update the chairman of Lifecare’s Scientific Advisory Board, Professor David Klonoff on the status of our longevity studies and preparations for the veterinary market. Among the industry news disclosed in relation to the #ADA2024 I notice that Abbott have increased the longevity of their #CGM from 14 days to 15 days 🤔, and that both Abbott and Dexcom now have FDA approval for Over The Counter versjons of their CGM’s. This is market relevant developments, however for me the most interesting news came from Senseonics, Incorporated disclosing that they not only have applied for a 365 day clearance for their CGM, but also disclosed that they are working on battery and Low Energy Bluetooth to enable a CGM without a unit on the skin. Way to go Senseonics 👏🏻, paving the way for the next generation of CGM”s! The developments are inspiring for Lifecare, as we now look forward to shortly report the first conclusions and finding from our longevity study. The Norwegian government ha stated the ambition to increase healthcare as an export industry. Today, DNB, Bergen Næringsråd and Eitri hosted a seminar on how Bergen can play a role in this export ambition. With more than 200 participants the turn-out was great! On behalf of Lifecare I participated in a panel discussing how to attract investors to facilitate the export ambition alongside public schemes and support. My main message was to ensure focus and support for #scaleup and #industrialization, in addition to #startups. In addition I emphasized that health is a #global topic, it is important to bring ideas to reality in the world, not only in Bergen. Thanks to DNB, Bergen Chamber of Commerce and Eitri for a great seminar!
