Our very own Frøydis Eidissen attended #Zerokonferansen last week with a great program curated by Miljøstiftelsen ZERO that shined a light on important discussions around avoided emissions and the energy transition - both themes we are passionate about here at Morescope! Inspiring, insightful and somewhat sobering day at #zerokonferansen last Thursday. Some reflections: 🐌 While we have succeeded in starting the green transition, we still have a long way to go. And, with the current political situation i Norway we are getting even further away from reaching our goals. Getting politicians on stage to discuss this was very interesting, and even though we can applaud them for being honest, there are not much else to applaude about the direction we are heading. I found it to be a particularly interesting contrast when an insightful presentation on the energy transition from Ember, which concluded that fossil fuels including oil and gas are permanently being pushed out of the energy mix in the EU and UK, was followed by our politicians unwillingness to discuss a “oljeforlik” and using arguments such as “our oil is the greenest oil”. It is a good thing that we are not worried about stranded assets… 📉 🚛 On the more inspiring side I attended a session on Avoided Emissions kicked off by Nysnø Klimainvesteringerø and with examples of actions that lead to reduced transport (and thus avoid impact on climate and nature) by TØI, Bærum kommune and Oslo kommune on avoided emissions. It is inspiring to see climate actions in-action and that the results from “simple” initiative can lead to huge and measurable reductions in emissions. This is also a focus at MoreScope, where avoided emissions consideration are one of our core offerings 🌿 🦅 Nature is on the agenda for everyone, and seeing Håkon Tomter from Zero, Anna Hole from PwC Norway and Siri Gilbert from Sabima present the trilemma report was the highlight of the whole day. The report gives great insights on the issue of land use change from a nature, climate and business perspective, hoping that the recommendations in this report will be of use to both businesses and politicians. In conclusion, I learned a lot and am more motivated now than ever to contribute to the green transition. Great to also see a number of old colleagues Hanne Løvstad Erlend Bjørklund. Thank you, Miljøstiftelsen ZERO for a well curated program that kept us on the edge of our seats the whole day 💡
