NORA – The Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium – aims to strengthen Norwegian research and education within artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics, as well as other relevant research that supports the development of artificial intelligence applications. NORA shall contribute in developing joint research projects between partners, NORA will take an active part in establishing start-up companies in the artificial intelligence field, as well as strengthening the collaboration between the consortium partners' research communities and the business community. The consortium will further contribute to positioning Norwegian research in artificial intelligence on the international arena and have a special responsibility for developing activities aimed at Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. In addition, the consortium will create meeting places and host various events for researchers and students. The NORA consortium was established 21 November 2018. The consortium is a collaboration between eight Norwegian universities: NMBU, OsloMet, UiA, UiB, UiO, UiS, UiT and USN, five university colleges: BI, HiØ, HINN, HVL and HK and five research institutes: NORCE, Simula, SINTEF, WNRI and Norsk Regnesentral.

PhD candidates Thomas Wallace and Mahsa Kalashami were two of 250 participants who participated in the Northern Lights Deep Learning Conference (NLDL) 2024 🤖❄👨🎓 🤖 The opportunity to network with other researchers with similar interests and experience the aurora borealis are two of many things they have looked forward to while visiting UiT- The Arctic University of Norway 👨🎓 - I have gotten to meet people that work on a lot similar things to my research but also in directions I did not expect. It has certainly been very valuable to me, says Wallace. 👩🎓 - An important thing is to get in touch with people who have had the same experiences as you in their PhD run. Participating in this conference has been a great chance for me to communicate with and learn from others, adds Kalashami. Did you know that you can submit abstracts for NLDL 2025? Join the annual Data Science Day, where we bring together the data science community for a productive mix of networking, learning, and entertainment! 🤩 📅 THURSDAY 17. OCTOBER at 17:00-22:00 📅 . We have very exciting speakers this year 🙌 ✅ "Data-Driven Rides: Tackling Mobility Challenges with Data Science at Voi" by Rahman Amandius, Head of Machine Learning & Data Science at Voi Technology ✅ "Fairness by Design - Considering Fairness in Algorithmic Decision Making" by Anne-Marie George, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Informatics, The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Integreat - Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning, University of Oslo ✅ "From Hypothesis to Reality: Designing a Superhuman Racing AI Agent using Deep Reinforcement Learning" by Alisa Devlic, Senior Research Scientist at SonyAI The event starts with a short session of mingling and food 🥗 🍲 🥙 . Then we will be hearing exciting talks from invited speakers. After the talks, we regather in the Science Library foyer for mingling and refreshments 🍸 🍾 . Continuing the success from previous years, we have invited a wide range of relevant companies to set up stands where they can present themselves to our guests. Our goal is to bring all parts of the data science community together for unique networking opportunities. We hope to see you all there! 🙏 🙌 Morten Dæhlen, Arnoldo FRIGESSI, Solveig Kristensen, Arne Bang Huseby, Ingrid K. Welcome to the dScience lunch seminar in the Science Library with Henrik Skaug Sætra Thursday 19th of September at 12:00-13:15 in the Science Library (Realfagsbiblioteket) at University of Oslo! The presentation will explore the impact of generative AI as it replicates human-level content (images, sound, music, video), raising questions about individual and societal effects. As AI challenges our ability to trust our senses, we must adapt how we seek information and ensure reliable sources of truth. The talk concludes with a discussion on the implications for the future of democracy. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Morten Dæhlen, Arne Bang Huseby, Eva Michelsen Ekroll, Carina Hundhammer, Cecilie Ellefsen, Integreat - Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning Complimentary lunch 🥙 ☕ - hope to see you there!

Syv forslag til hvordan Norge kan bruke mer kunstig intelligens! Integreat - Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning NORA – The Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium Centre for Digital Life Norway Universitetet i Oslo (UiO) | University of Oslo Norsk Regnesentral
Les de syv forslagene her: https://lnkd.in/d3akmdJN Foto: Gorm Kallestad / NTB

Today’s dScience Lunch seminar was a full house 🏚 as Professor Antonio Martini from The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Department of Informatics) presented on “Better Software for All: Using LLMs to Improve Software Development Practices” 🤩. It was fantastic to see a diverse group of attendees from industry, start-ups, and academia coming together to explore research and network. This is exactly the kind of engagement we aim for at these popular lunch events! Thank you too all participants for an excellent Q&A 👏 👏 Next week, Thursday 19th of September, we hope to see you all in Science Library at University of Oslo where Henrik Skaug Sætra will have the talk: Don’t trust your senses! ✔ The presentation will explore the impact of generative AI as it replicates human-level content (images, sound, music, video), raising questions about individual and societal effects. As AI challenges our ability to trust our senses, we must adapt how we seek information and ensure reliable sources of truth.
