It consists of installing photovoltaic modules on water bodies. The significant attention is due to some interesting points about FPVs, as they: • Free up land for other use and saves on land acquisition and preparation costs.  • Allow higher yields due to the cooling effect of water; • Conserve water through reduced evaporation; • Decrease the formation and growth of algae in water; and • Are quick to install. FPV has originally started as ponton-based installation on water bodies. Now, there is a new generation of FPV which is showing promising performance: the membrane-based FPVs. One of its main features is that in addition of providing renewable energy, it is also providing an alternative source of water, by collecting rainwater thanks to the surface of its membrane. This new generation of FPV is solving the problem of renewable energy and water at once, which is a breakthrough for many businesses and communities. This is a first for floating solar technology, as our innovative design now enables a powerful combination of renewable energy generation and water collection.   Island communities across the globe, from the Maldives to the Caribbean and Polynesia, face the same challenge: limited space for renewable energy infrastructure and scarce freshwater resources.
