Piql had the honor of participating in the Digital Archiving in The Arab World (DAIAW) Conference in Abu Dhabi from October 29th-31st. Organized by renowned institutions like CEDEJ, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the UAE National Library and Archives UAE, and the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, DAIAW provided a vital platform for discussing the future of digital archiving in the region. Our Managing Director - Rune Bjerkestrand, alongside Mr. Mohamed Shalaby (General Manager - Piql MENA), led an insightful session titled "The often-forgotten aspect of archiving and digital preservation, - STORAGE". They explored how Piql’s unique technology can tackle the often-overlooked challenges of data preservation and provide sustainable, secure solutions for protecting both historical and contemporary content. On wednesday, we officially launched Piql UK at the Norwegian Ambassador's residence in London. This significant step brings our unique, non-hackable, migration-free and EMP-resistant data storage technology to the UK market. The event opened with a warm welcome from the Norwegian Ambassador, setting an inspiring tone for the day. Piql is honoured to participate in the 16th Archival Education and Research Initiative (AERI), hosted by the Records Management and Archival Science Unit at the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) in collaboration with the National Library and Archives UAE (NLA) of the UAE. The AERI represents an unprecedented and exciting collaboration among the leading archival education programs worldwide to train and support future archival faculty and enhance the education of archival professionals. From October 7-11, it brings together researchers, educators, and professionals to foster collaboration, support doctoral students, and drive innovation in archival studies. Today's highlight was a compelling presentation by Rune Bjerkestrand (Managing Director - Piql AS) and Mohamed Shalaby (General Manager - Piql MENA) titled "What They Don’t Teach You in Archival Education," addressing critical data threats and strategies for preserving records while maintaining information authenticity.
