Stakeholder consultation on the ACCESSAFRICA GUIDELINES ON POST-TRIAL ACCESS FOR INTERNATIONAL CLINICAL TRIALS IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA The EDCTP Project, Impoving Post-trial Access in Africa (AccessAfrica), coordinated by Prof. Rosemarie de la Cruz Bernabe from the University of Oslo, held two online stakeholder consultation meetings for the post-trial access guidelines. This has been attended by research ethics committee members and regulators from various parts of Sub-Saharan Africa and Norway. We extend our gratitude to all the participants who generously contributed their time and presence to comment on and provide inputs to the guidelines. At the same time, gathering of inputs from SSA stakeholders will continue until the end of May 2024. We're excited to announce that ALLEA, the authors of the European Code of Conduct guidelines on Research Integrity, have officially endorsed both the ROSiE general guidelines and the ROSiE field-specific guidelines. The ROSiE guidelines are built upon the foundation laid by the ECoC guidelines. SAVE THE DATE: ACCESS AFRICA POST-TRIAL ACCESS STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION MEETING TO BE HELD ON 27.05.2024. 9:00-11:00 CET. The EDCTP Project, AccessAfrica, has released the first draft of the Sub-Saharan Africa Guidelines on Post-trial Access. Post-trial access (PTA) refers to the ethical principle, enshrined in various international guidelines, “to make available as soon as possible any intervention or product developed, and knowledge generated, for the population or community in which the research is carried out” (CIOMS, 2016). The AccessAfrica Guidelines on Post-Trial Access is the first ethical guidance document on this ethical principle that was drafted specifically for the SSA region.
