Om oss
Shearwater is a global marine geoscience and technology business. We study the ocean floor and beneath to discover natural resources. Energy companies use this information to plan ahead, helping us accelerate responsible use of the Earth’s resources. Over the years, we’ve become known for innovation and ground-breaking technology. The vessels and equipment we use are state-of-the-art and the software we develop in-house is used by the best in the business. The environments and local societies where we work deserve to be treated with respect. And we take our sustainability commitments seriously. You can read about them in our environmental, social and governance strategy and our sustainability report. Our head office is in Bergen, and we’re proud of our Norwegian heritage. But we’re at our best exploring the ocean’s depths, innovating to create new technologies and seeking out the answers to the planet’s deepest questions.

Exciting news! Shearwater has been awarded our second Angolan OBN survey by TotalEnergies! Coming off the back of our recent project award at block B32, we will begin a three-month deep-water survey at block B20/11 the location of the Golfinho and Cameia fields. Our state-of-the-art OBN platform, consisting of our Pearl Node and dual ROV-equipped SW Tasman, will lead this effort, supported by SW Gallien as a source vessel. We are proud to keep pushing new boundaries for ocean bottom seismic in West Africa. Stay tuned for updates! We’re excited to share that Gabrio Rizzuti's paper, "Deep-learning-based uncertainty quantification for post-stack UHR seismic inversion," has been selected as a highlight paper by #EAGEGET2024! Gabrio’s research showcases our ongoing efforts to deliver ultra-high-resolution seismic data with greater accuracy, enabling better offshore exploration decisions. Interested in learning more? You can find the paper at the bottom of this page here: https://lnkd.in/eDAxSHVJ #DeepLearning #Geophysics #EAGEGET2024

Did you know? 4D seismic processing and imaging help in tracking reservoir changes over time, providing insights into fluid movement and other dynamic factors. This improves field management and enhances the accuracy of reservoir models. To learn more about this, visit https://lnkd.in/e4jyD2fP #SeismicData

Last week, we were excited to be back for Africa Oil Week in Cape Town, South Africa. Our VP of Client Engagement, Thomas Hay, was joined by industry peers on a panel discussion talking all about hot license rounds and anticipations for 2025. He explained that "one size does not fit all" regarding energy solutions across Africa, and that each region should explore a tailored approach. This event follows the great news around the TotalEnergies OBN Angola award and the increasing activities related to OBN technology in the continent. Thanks to all the co-panelists for their shared curiosity – it resulted in a great discussion! Our wavemakers were on the ground for the 2024 Angola Oil & Gas Conference. We took part in several interesting discussions with industry leaders, concluded by taking part in the “Frontier Exploration” panel. Joined by key experts in the region, we discussed one of our favorite topics: The utilisation of Shearwaters' advanced OBN fleet technology and its potential for regional deepwater exploration. As always, it generated great interest among our audience! To learn more about our OBN technology, please visit: https://lnkd.in/evRDhw3d #AOG #OBN #Shearwater

Shearwater is pleased to announce the award of a new deepwater OBN project by TotalEnergies in Angola. We will mobilise our SW Tasman/Pearl OBN platform from January 2025 for a two-and-a-half-month-long survey. This will include our state-of-the-art Pearl node technology, which delivers high-quality data and will be operating in water depths of 1600-2100m. This project follows our past collaborations, in which Shearwater previously completed a 4D streamer survey for TotalEnergies in Angola. Scale up for Efficiency! At Shearwater, innovation and practicality go hand in hand. Recently, we established a temporary N6Fin (component within the streamer system) assembly line for charging and testing on SW Amundsen while docked in Farsund, Norway. As a result, we scaled up the testing machines to accommodate 20 units at a time, doubling their normal capacity. This new setup meant we could handle 108 repaired N6Fins in just 5 days for the entire process. This level of adaptability keeps operations moving by ensuring our units are tested and fully charged for deployment. #SeismicAcquisition #SafeOperations #Teamwork
