Successful Mobile Test Unit campaign? Check! ✅ Together with WACKER, we have successfully captured CO2 generated from silicon production. The pilot test campaign achieved capture rates of over 95%. The project team also thoroughly studied and validated the process parameters, delivering important information needed for large-scale implementation. At the same time, WACKER and SLB and Aker Carbon Capture Joint Venture conducted an engineering feasibility study, which involved drafting a design for a plant that would capture 180,000 metric tons of CO2 annually. These calculations have now been supplemented with the data obtained in actual practice. At WACKER’s production site in Holla, Norway, quartz and carbon are combined to produce silicon for use in its silicone products. This MTU campaign is part of WACKER’s ambition to half its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and to reach #netzero by 2045. “We are thrilled to partner with WACKER, a leader in modern chemistry, to explore the capture of CO2 emission from its silicon production. This initiative marks a significant step towards reducing Norway’s carbon footprint”, says Tove Ormevik , Director Delivery Functions & Aftermarket at SLB and Aker Carbon Capture Joint Venture. #MTU #RoadToNetZero #WeMakeCarbonCaptureHappen

The Carbon Capture Global Summit 2024 in London this week gathered stakeholders across various industries. - We saw customers of SLB and Aker Carbon Capture Joint Venture such as Heidelberg Materials (Brevik CCS), Ørsted (Kalundborg CO2 Hub) and Holcim present their projects and roadmaps as well as important partners such as Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM), said Chief Commercial Officer Jon Christopher Knudsen who was a speaker at the event. Delivering 1 million tonnes per year of CO2 capture projects as we speak, the interest was high in how the new joint venture backed by both Aker and SLB will make impact at scale 🌍 - We are fortunate to work with partners such as Microsoft, CO280, Ørsted, Twence, Hafslund Oslo Celsio and Northern Lights JV to realize large scale projects which were all mentioned over the two days the summit lasted, Knudsen said. #ImpactAtScale #WeMakeCarbonCaptureHappen 🌿

Being nominated for the ONS Innovation Award was a great honor, and we are very proud of our team and our collaborations with the full value chain of #CCUS to realize #CarbonCapture today. Congratulations to this year’s winner Siemens Gamesa! We continue to push the boundaries of carbon capture technologies, with a focus on research, innovation and technology development. Our goal is to make carbon capture an accessible #decarbonization tool to deploy for the industry. This is enabled by amongst others modularization, digitalization and new products and solutions. Thank you, ONS, for this recognition!

Welcome to this year’s ONS! 👋 It’s great to meet so many people interested in #CCUS as a climate mitigation tool at our stand. As Jon Christopher Knudsen, our Chief Commercial Officer, stated at the Net Zero market: #CCUS is increasingly considered by a wide range of emitters as a clear pathway to reach #NetZero 🌍 Want to learn how we can help you decarbonize your business? Pass by our booth 8150 in Hall 8!

Let’s reward emitters that act today to curb their carbon emissions. That was our main message when interacting with policymakers at this year’s Arendalsuka, which is the largest annual political gathering in Norway. Our company was represented by Hanne Rolén and Nina Westgaard, who also engaged with industry leaders and climate advocates to foster meaningful conversations about how we can accelerate the adoption of #CCUS in Norway. “Collaboration is crucial. By working together, we can scale up CCUS solutions and make a significant impact on reducing and removing carbon emissions, both in Norway and globally”, said Hanne. See you next year in Arendal! #WeMakeCarbonCaptureHappen

This week The Guardian writes on how #BrevikCCS blazes the carbon-free concrete trail🌿 “Rising carbon prices and increased demand for sustainable alternatives have jolted parts of the cement sector into action. The emissions trading scheme in the EU will phase out free allowances for industry by 2034. (…) Carbon Capture and storage (#CCS) is the most advanced of the solutions that engineers are racing to bring to market.” As the dedicated #CarbonCapture provider, SLB and Aker Carbon Capture Joint Venture is proud to deliver the world’s first industrial-scale carbon capture plant at a cement facility. From next year, our bespoke Big Catch™ plant will capture 400,000 tonnes of CO2 per year 🏭 #ImpactAtScale #RoadToNetZero #GreenCement #ETS
