In the early 2017, I built charging stations when no one really knew what it was 🧐 Back then, EVs was for the very few: either the techies or those truly engaged for the environmental reasons. Finding a spot to develop a «charging site» (could hardly be called a site, it was one - two at max - 50kW DC chargers) was challenging. Why? Getting the buy-in from location owners. Very few wanted to designate one (or two) parking lots to EV charging. So we ended up with lots of locations in places you wouldn’t really expect there to be a charging station. Fast forward to today, and we still see challenges in the infrastructure development. But for very different reasons. As the transition to electrification accelerate, the high demand for energy, strain on the grid, increased competition and new technology - the process of developing infrastructure has new challenges. Long lead times getting approval from grid infrastructure, over-establishment of chargers in certain areas, unknown or unpredictable utilisation patterns and rates, energy price fluctuations, to mention a few. Reasons that can truly be the make it or break it for both companies, but also the success of the transition. Having solutions that connects all the available data and provides insights to these challenges, is fundamental. And that is what SurplusMap is all about. Gjennom gode diskusjoner, Q&A og erfaringsdeling ble det tydelig hvordan partnerskapet kan skape verdi for både startups og tech-økosystemet! 🙌 Representanter fra våre porteføljeselskaper – Greenerway AS, SurplusMap , Ahodzil, CoachAI, Hoolsy AS, Strigoo, Nooffice AS, og Landbrukspartner – var til stede og delte sine erfaringer og behov. Between 2022 and 2023, at the very start of our journey, we set out to see how Earth Observation (EO) data from the Copernicus satellite program could power our core mapping technology to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles.
