Can policy changes drive the circular future we need? 🌍 How are new regulations transforming the way we manage plastic waste? Across the globe, policies like China's National Sword, California's ambitious recycled content bill, and Europe’s EU Plastics Strategy are setting the stage for meaningful change. 🔄 Why it matters: These regulations have reshaped plastics recycling, from restricting exports to boosting domestic efforts. Globally, we’re seeing a shift toward turning plastic waste into valuable resources and products. 📊 Industry response: Brands and manufacturers are stepping up, reducing virgin plastic use and increasing recycled content. Initiatives like the Circular Plastics Alliance and the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment are moving the needle, while global efforts like the UN’s negotiations for a plastics treaty are pushing for unified action. 🌍 What’s next: As we continue to build momentum, the success of the UN Global Plastics Treaty will be critical in aligning global policies and accelerating progress. TOMRA has outlined 10 key recommendations to ensure this treaty tackles plastic waste at every level, from production to disposal. Explore TOMRA's 10 recommendations for the UN Global Plastics Treaty 👉 https://lnkd.in/dsxPnh5c  #CircularEconomy #PlasticRecycling #GlobalPolicy #UNPlasticsTreaty #Sustainability #ClimateAction

He’s back! 👷♂️👇 Jan Hommen is taking us on another tour of Norway’s future game-changing plastic sorting facility – and there’s been some progress since our last update! 🚧 The administration building is well underway and set to be completed by November. Step by step, we’re getting closer to opening in 2025! Many of the advanced NIR (Near-Infrared) units are already installed. These high-tech sensors will be key in identifying and sorting different plastics with precision, helping us process up to 90,000 tons of plastic waste each year. ♻️ This project highlights how smart waste management can be a real solution to the global plastic pollution crisis, pushing us towards a circular economy. Who should take responsibility for plastic waste? 💡 Extended producer responsibility (EPR) is a policy that ensures that producers are held accountable for the plastic waste they put into the market throughout its lifecycle, from design to disposal. 🏭➡️♻️ By mandating EPR, we can push manufacturers to prioritize circular designs and invest in sustainable waste management systems. It’s not just about recycling more. It's about changing how products are made and disposed of. TOMRA’s fourth recommendation to the UN’s Global Plastics Treaty highlights that well-mandated EPR legislation is key to creating a circular economy, where materials are reused and repurposed, benefiting both the planet and business. 🌍💼 Explore all 10 of TOMRA’s recommendations right here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dYpHXVsA #CircularEconomy #GlobalPlasticsTreaty #EPR

At Nord Pal Plast (NPP), the future of plastic recycling just got a serious upgrade. 🚀 As a France-based subsidiary of the European group Dentis, NPP specializes in producing recycled PET flakes from post-consumer plastic bottles. By partnering with TOMRA and utilizing our cutting-edge AUTOSORT™ with GAINnext™ deep learning technology, NPP has achieved unmatched precision in separating PET plastics. 🌍✨ NPP was the first to test TOMRA’s PET Cleaner application, allowing them to separate clear and light blue transparent bottles from hard-to-detect white opaque ones, like milk cartons with UV protection. This breakthrough has not only improved the purity levels of clear PET but also tackled the tricky task of sorting opaque PET, aligning perfectly with France’s ambitious goal to recycle 100% of plastics by 2025. With cleaner streams of recycled PET and optimized operations, NPP is helping accelerate the transition to a circular economy. Together, TOMRA and NPP are turning regulatory demands into new opportunities! 💡🤝 🔗 Learn more right here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dHK69qqy #CircularEconomy #RecyclingInnovation #PlasticRecycling #TOMRA #PetRecycling
