The hub is run by students with support from the UiO Growth House and UiO. With this we want to foster a robust and enduring engagement in student innovation for all students at the University of Oslo. Siden 2020 har Veksthuset for verdiskaping – UiO Growth House i samarbeid med legemiddelindustrien utplassert over 100 medisin- og matematikk- og naturvitenskapstudentee i helsebedrifter i internship-program. – Flere av studentene har etterpå fått jobb i bedriftene. Farmasøyter som tenkte å jobbe i apotek, har endret mening og vil jobbe hos Bayer, som eksempel, forteller innovasjonsrådgiver ved Veksthuset, Nicolay Berard-Andersen. Store selskap som Novartis Norge og Roche i Norge, samt mange mindre bedrifter i Forskningsparken - Oslo Science Park, har hatt praktikanter gjennom et internship-program Veksthuset og studentinnovasjonsforeninger har startet sammen.

Sammen med vårt innovasjonsøkosystem ønsker vi å bidra til å realisere veikartet for helsenæringen. – Økosystemet har helseforskning i verdensklasse – dette er råvaren for å bygge helsenæringen. Økosystemet samlet sett har kompetansen for å utvikle en sterk helsenæring gjennom hele verdikjeden til et sluttprodukt og løsninger. I tillegg har vi en annen viktig brikke – vi har vilje og evne til å samarbeide og trekke sammen for å få til dette, sa Veksthusets direktør Hilde Nebb i Arendal da hun åpnet møtet om realisering av veikartet for helsenæringen. Hun overleverte innspillene fra vårens samarbeid i økosystemet til Truls Vasvik, Arbeiderpartiet og Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen, Høyre. – Dette er bare starten. Nå skal vi jobbe sammen videre, sier Nebb. – Samarbeidet i vår har synliggjort at vi både hver for oss og sammen gjør mye allerede, og vi har kommet nærmere hverandre i tenkning rundt hva som må til fra plan og strategi til operasjonalisering av veikartet for å bygge en mye kraftigere helsenæring. Men vi ser også at vi i tillegg til vår vilje og evne, trenger ytterligere insentiver og virkemidler som drahjelp fra politisk hold.
