These bottles we made with a strange light yellow liquid represent a master key ready to unlock many secrets in the code of life. Our last media coverage led to an unexpected conversation with some half-naked men sweating in a sauna. Their curiosity allowed us to explain in detail how our reagent enables better DNA extractions, potentially revolutionizing genetic research. One of the intrigued individuals invested in our bootstrapped startup, catalyzing the funds needed to initiate the patent process and continue documenting our results. We are preparing to break the sound barrier. 🚀 Today, three of our co-founders Petter Johansen Davide Rapotez Kåre Johan Teigen at Wai Genetics came together to produce the next batch of our DNA extraction reagent, the Wai-Buffer. As we approach autumn, we are gearing up to find researchers and institutions to serve as third-party validators to confirm the efficiency of our DNA extraction reagent. We have produced two large batches with the aim of reaching as many pilot users as possible. Our own testing demonstrated an increase in DNA extraction success rate from 9% to 92%, and we are confident that our work can have a significant impact on researchers finding tomorrow’s solutions. However, our claims of efficiency does not matter. what matters is the value this brings to users. What truly matters is creating a tool that aids researchers in discovering the biotechnical solutions for the tommorow. Wai Genetics is primarily a bootstrapped startup with limited funds for outreach. Yet, there should always be space for a dedicated team that can overcome limited resources with determination and grit. Last week marked a significant milestone for our startup, Wai Genetics. Petter Johansen and Andrija Stefanović successfully rented a laboratory in Belgrade, allowing us to gather the initial demonstration needed to support our patent application. While there is still more work to be done, this progress is a major step toward demonstrating our capabilities in improving genetic readings from challenging samples. During this lab session, we primarily focused on extracting DNA from agricultural species, which are notoriously difficult to work with but are crucial for European agriculture. Better genetic knowledge is essential for securing agriculture and food production.
