A new study on OMNI has been published, and I am particularly excited about this one. It provides valuable real-world insights into the long-term effectiveness of canaloplasty and trabeculotomy with OMNI as a standalone procedure, independent of cataract surgery. This retrospective, observational cohort study drew real-world data from the American Academy of Ophthalmology IRIS® Registry, providing a robust analysis of patient outcomes over 36 months. A precise assessment of kidney function is crucial in modern intensive care. Traditional methods like Serum Creatinine (SCr) and estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) have limitations, especially in acute kidney injury (AKI) diagnosis. Proenkephalin A 119-159 (#penKid), an innovative biomarker, offers a promising alternative. Unlike traditional markers, penKid is unaffected by gender, muscle mass, or inflammation and correlates well with measured GFR. Scientists have developed a new eGFR formula based on penKid, creatinine, and age, providing superior accuracy. Early identification of subclinical AKI and recovery monitoring make penKid a promising tool for personalized therapy planning.
