🚨One more day to register to attend our event in-person! Join the final conference on Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods🏘️ What will be the legacy of syn.xn--ikia?-xd14d Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods (#SPEN) have a unique opportunity to integrate wider environmental and social objectives that are well aligned with ESG finance and #EUtaxonomy requirements. They contribute to a climate-neutral building stock, while offering multiple benefits for the community and society, such as improved comfort and public health, social inclusion, climate resilience and value retention. To mainstream SPENs and unlock their full potential, there is a pressing need for innovative financing models which account for the multiple long-term benefits represented by SPENs to building inhabitants, owners and communities. It is also key to ensure that the financial burden doesn’t fall disproportionately on those least able to afford it and that vulnerable households or SMEs. The last panel of the day will bring diverse expertise to cover the topic of finance in affordable housing, with the moderation of Caroline Cheng (SINTEF). 🟣Sorcha Edwards, Housing Europe Secretary General will provide a keynote speech introduction, and cover the challenges faced by the sector and the solutions that affordable and not-for-profit housing can bring to the table for a fair transition. 🟣Borja Gumuzio Morenes will bring the perspective of GNE Finance, that delivers eco-sustainable home renovation programs that combine technical assistance, affordable financing and smart funding. 🟣Julien DIJOL from Housing Europe, will bring into the spotlight what are the needs to improve the policy framework from the social, public, cooperative and affordable housing sector 🟣Claire Roumet from Energy Cities will address the issue through the lens of local authorities united in implementing the energy transition. 🟣Christine Zhou (BwB) will present the perspective of investment bankers motivated to assist high impact projects that benefit the environment and social good. Why should you join us for the #synikia final conference? So that you can learn more from experts on how to drive forward social, affordable and energy-efficient housing🏘️ Ciarán Cuffe keynote will be opening the Final Conference of the syn.ikia project on 24 March 2025. He is co-chair of the European Greens Party and was the Parliament’s lead negotiator for the European Performance of Buildings Directive recast. Ciarán, an urbanist and architect is aware of the multiple benefits of the #neighbourhood approach for the #decarbonisation of the EU’s building stock. For the first time, the #EPBD includes an explicit mention of ‘integrated district or neighbourhood approaches’. Multiple benefits are acknowledged, such as cost-effectiveness and integration with energy, mobility, green infrastructure, waste and water treatment and other aspects of urban planning which take into account local and regional resources, circularity and sufficiency. Conceptualising and incorporating the added values of the neighbourhood approach into building policies is a first step to advance Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods (#SPEN) across Europe. 📅24th of March 📍European Committee of the Regions, Batiment Jacques Delors, Rue Belliard 99/101, Brussels 🕒 10:00 - 16:00 CET ✍️Register Here: https://lnkd.in/ehrZkbvg Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), DTU - Technical University of Denmark, BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe , SINTEF, Housing Europe, IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya, INCASÒL | Institut Català del Sòl, ABUD - Advanced Building & Urban Design , SIR - Salzburger Institut für Raumordnung und Wohnen GmbH, TNO, ENFOR A/S, Arca Nova Gruppen

🏘️As cities strive for #sustainability, digital twins are emerging as powerful tools to transform building districts into positive-energy communities. Check our latest paper to see the #synikia exmaple💡 Through our project, we've identified three key lessons for unlocking their full potential: 1️⃣ Ethical data management AI prediction models rely on significant personal user behavior data. Ethical practices are essential to build trust and ensure responsible data usage. 2️⃣ User-centric design No matter how advanced the AI, digital twins must prioritize end-user needs to deliver meaningful impact. 3️⃣ Collaboration across the value chain The fragmented building industry requires digital twins to act as real-time learning and collaboration hubs, breaking silos and enabling seamless teamwork. These insights highlight how technology, ethics, and collaboration can intersect to create sustainable, #energypositive #districts. 💬 How do you see digital twins shaping the future of sustainable urban living?
