As PSV draws the curtain to its second investment cycle, it is time to celebrate and appreciate the real heroes who have brought PSV this far with their perseverance, dedication, and determination. We're thrilled to announce the successful completion of the IC meeting for the second PSV Investment Cycle! The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as the distinguished panel of IC members, alongside PSV team members, deliberated on four promising startups. Our IC panel comprises diverse experts: Prina Bajracharya (Consultant at The World Bank and Design Program Lead at King's College) , Sanjay Kafle (Co-founder at Pahadi Foods ), Sarthak Thapa (Co-founder at Enviro Renewables and Academic Facilitator at King's College) and Shreyan Poudyal ( President at Bajra Technologies ). We extend our gratitude to each of them for sharing their valuable experiences and collaborative spirit. Through constructive discussions and careful evaluation, we recognized the challenge of selecting which startups to invest in. Nonetheless, we're confident in the decisions we've made and eagerly anticipate the future successes of these startups/ideas. On March 3rd, 2024, the PSV team embarked on their 3rd visit of Meetflix journey at Nepal Investment Mega Bank, where Ms. Niyanta Koirala, the SME head at NIMB, spearheaded an enlightening session. They discussed the intricate workings of banking systems and how they interact with Nepal's growing startup community. Participants explored various types of loans and the important factors involved in applying for them. Ms. Koirala shared insights into how banks customize their support to suit the needs of individuals and businesses. The session also highlighted NIMB's subsidized loan options, giving attendees a practical understanding of their benefits. On 1st March 2024, PSV representatives, along with the participating student founders of PSV Investment Cycle 2, had an amazing visit to Global Equity Fund Limited - the first local institutional Private Equity and Venture Capital Fund based in Nepal, as the second visit of PSV Meetflix 2024. Dr. Manish Thapa, the Founding Managing Partner of Global Equity Fund, delivered a captivating and informative presentation on alternative financing sources for young entrepreneurs, blending expertise with a touch of humor and insight. As both an Honorary Consul of the Republic of Costa Rica to Nepal and a member of the Board of Directors of Laxmi Bank, this visit proved highly productive, offering his real-life examples and valuable insights. From delving into the cultural and historical roots of entrepreneurship in Nepal to discussing policies and efforts of the government, collaborative groups and Banking and Financial Institutions aimed at enhancing investment accessibility and industry-specific mentorship, Dr. Manish provided a critical analysis of the current ecosystem, highlighting both its challenges and opportunities for future growth. We extend our special thanks to Ms. Kaatya Mishra (ESG and Impact Investment Analyst) for facilitating this visit.
