Today I opened Wellington Hospital’s new High Dependency Unit, which will boost critical care services in the lower North Island, provide extra capacity, and relieve pressure on the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and emergency department. The addition of a High Dependency Unit now means that patients who do not need to be in the Intensive Care Unit but are not well enough to be discharged to a ward and still require close observation can be cared for in a separate unit. Expanding critical care capacity and ensuring that patients are cared for in the right environment will free up bed availability and help to improve hospital flow from the emergency department, while also reducing the need to postpone planned surgeries.    This is key to achieving our Government’s health target for shorter stays in emergency departments and shorter wait times for elective treatment. Improving health infrastructure is a priority for our Government to reduce these wait times and enable access to timely, quality healthcare. #nz #newzealand #wellington #health

Yesterday, our team had the pleasure of welcoming the Counties Manukau District Adult Community Team to our Experience Centre. Our representatives, Conor and Nathan, led insightful discussions on the moving and handling of bariatric patients, covering best practices and safety considerations. With Chris's expertise, they also learned more about the use of 4-point and 2-point gantry hoists, highlighting their differences, benefits, and applications in various healthcare settings. It was a fantastic opportunity to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and enhance safe patient handling techniques. In addition, the team had the opportunity to see our range of M2 Commodes like the M2 400kg El-Tip Commode. They also explored other models within the range and were impressed by the adaptability of the commodes, especially with the wide selection of accessories available to meet different patient needs.
