We're proud and fortunate to have Crystal on our team. Her contributions truly reflect our commitment to teamwork and putting people first. Exciting times ahead! #teamwork #peoplefirst #insurance #Howden

My journey with Apex Insurance over the past seven years has been a meaningful and valuable experience. Starting as a part-timer and eventually transitioning into a full-time role, I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside the company as it evolved from a local business to becoming part of the global Howden family. What has made this journey truly special are the people I’ve worked with—those who prioritize others and embody kindness and professionalism. Being surrounded by good people has not only made my work fulfilling but has also motivated me to keep learning and improving. I recognize that there is always more to learn, and I’m committed to ongoing professional development to better contribute to the team and adapt to the evolving industry.

We’re excited to celebrate our recent work with Howden Care and share our video during Mahuru Māori! APM is always proud to deliver rehabilitation services for the clients of Howden Care and we were honoured when an opportunity arose to provide some cultural training for their staff. As an organisation committed to our own cultural learning journey, APM admires Howden Care’s commitment to empowering their staff to better understand the unique needs and goals of their clients. “Our purpose is to make a tangible difference in people’s lives by looking after our clients and their people as if they were our own," said Howden Care Operations Partner Joel Hibbs. "We love working with APM because their values align with ours so perfectly," he added. APM National Manager for Māori & Diversity Cleo Hotereni worked with Howden Care to design and deliver the series of learning sessions that aimed to: • teach the Howden Care team about Māori cultural concepts • enhance their cultural awareness and understanding • give them practical knowledge about te ao Māori (Māori world) concepts • help Howden Care offer more holistic and culturally safe services "Their commitment reflects a genuine desire to be a good tiriti partner and to serve diverse communities with cultural sensitivity and respect” Cleo said. We love Howden New Zealand's proactive approach to this important work. Together, we strive to enable better lives for all New Zealanders. #EnablingBetterLives #NewZealand

A great read from David Howden. We are proud to be part of the worldwide Howden family as they celebrate 30 years of remarkable success. Here’s to the next 30! – James McGhie

    Founder and CEO at Howden

In a couple of months’ time Howden marks its 30th anniversary. Half a lifetime ago for me! In 1994 the Cold War had not long ended. The world wide web was a novel innovation. Mark Zuckerberg was in elementary school. Oasis were up and coming and LinkedIn wasn’t even a thing. Back then our company was just a quartet. Three people and one dog – a Weimaraner (easy for you to say). The dog was called Flight and she's critical to our tale. You see when I was on a Scottish mountain thinking about starting a new company that could really unleash the power of insurance Flight was beside me. And, when we moved into our office, Flight was on reception. In fact, she was the first thing people saw bounding up to them as they came through the door. From the very first, it was Flight who set the tone of the place we wanted to be. A place that put clients first. A place that didn't stand on ceremony. A place with an irrepressible sense of fun. Sadly, Flight isn’t with us anymore and our company has grown from a quartet into a big band with more than 18,000 people in more than 55 countries. But anyone who comes to meet us in our offices in London will see Flight's gone but not forgotten. Her likeness stands in sculpted form at the entrance to my office poised and ready for lift off. And, when we hold our employee awards in November – which will celebrate some amazing achievements. 1994 might be a long time ago but the irrepressible spirit of our former receptionist lives on powering us into tomorrow. #Howden30 #insurance #PeopleFirst

Our very own Mark Craig has been named ‘CFO of the Year’ at the prestigious Insurance Insider Honours! 🏆 Mark joined us in 2017 and became CFO five years ago. Since then, Mark has overseen the business quadruple in size. And achieve incredible compound annual growth of 46 per cent over the past three years. Since 2023, alongside his stellar team, Mark has managed more than 100 M&A deals including the acquisition of TigerRisk, March RS in Spain, North Risk in Denmark and VLC in the Netherlands. And earlier this year he and his team led a USD 6bn refinancing and maturity extension – one of the largest by a European private equity backed business. All the while Mark oversees a vast range of activity, whether it’s preparing first class financial statements, deal structuring, approving new initiatives, managing treasury and providing tax planning and compliance. After picking up his richly deserved prize Mark said: "It’s a great honour to receive the reward but I’m really accepting it on behalf of my incredible team. Our collective power is the key to our success. My team have worked exceptionally hard over the last few years and this award is testament to their abilities. It’s also especially gratifying to win in our 30th anniversary year and can’t wait for what’s to come.” We echo the words of the judging panel when they said “we look forward to seeing what transformative deals Howden’s CFO gets over the line in future”. Meanwhile, hearty congratulations to Kate Pennell and our fantastic marketing colleagues who received a highly commended for their amazing work on the 2023 October rebrand. A fitting tribute to their remarkable collaborative efforts. And, of course, well done to all winners and runners up on the night. #Howden30 #CollectivePower #insurance #finance

The global IT outage was a wake-up call for the world, with estimated insured losses of around US$1bn: https://ow.ly/7Il750STzZy Rapid response from IT and incident response teams have helped to contain costs, but it is still likely to be one of (if not) the biggest losses for the cyber insurance market. The incident has reinforced the relevance of the product by indemnifying losses and assisting clients with incident response services. Since the global IT outage, we have seen heightened risk awareness, and an increased demand for cyber insurance, particularly from SMEs. Looking ahead, we expect the outage to accelerate the cyber market’s development on three fronts: relevance, innovation and demand. #Howden #cyber #SMEs #CyberInsurance #GlobalITOutage
