⏪ Maximising Tensile Strength with Hooked-End Steel Fibres in SFRC ⏩ Research has demonstrated that hooked-end fibres provide superior anchorage, ensuring optimal stress transfer in SFRC. This is particularly crucial for high-tensile steel fibres to fully leverage their increased tensile strength. High-tensile fibres (+2000 MPa) are well-suited for high-strength concrete (+70 MPa), as the wire's tensile strength is sufficient to prevent fibres snapping (Brittle failure). However, increasing the tensile strength of fibres in medium-strength concrete (40 MPa) does not substantially enhance SFRC performance, as fibres will merely deform and pull through (Ductile failure). To effectively utilize high-tensile wires in medium-strength concrete, it is imperative to reinforce anchorage by modifying the hook's shape.
