Looking forward to the final day at SaaStr! The first day and a half have been a whirlwind of ideas. AI is definitely a strong theme here, with speakers sharing their advice on how to best utilize this technology. The general principle - think of AI as a team member. You need to invest the time to understand how it works. Use it as a force multiplier. It can enhance your team, but you need to keep a human in the loop. #saastr2024 #AI

🌍 Day two of #CCBC24 is in full swing, and the insights are flowing fast! If you haven’t visited our booth yet, come by today! We’d love to chat about how we can help drive your sustainability actions forward. This morning’s sessions were packed with invaluable discussions around trade policy, climate change, and the future of sustainability. Here are the key takeaways: ▶️“There’s coal, and there’s coal”—Simon Watts, Minister of Climate Change and Revenue, explaining that coal mined in NZ is for technology use, not burning. He stressed that biomass should be used at Huntly. ▶️New Zealand is the first country to legislate mandatory disclosures—Sue Lloyd, IFRS/ISSB. ▶️80% of NZ exports are destined for countries with mandatory or proposed disclosure rules—Kate Beddoe, Silver Fern Farms. ▶️New Zealand is one of only five countries the EU has partnered with in their Free Trade Agreements.—Lawrence Meredith, European Union in Aotearoa New Zealand. ▶️"NZ is seen as stable and easy to operate in, but we need investors to recognise the opportunities here"—Jason Patrick, NZ Green Investment Finance. ▶️Funding gaps exist between available capital and the pace of action despite policies and investment—Joanna Silver, Westpac. ▶️“Electricity is like transport: supply induces demand. Build infrastructure and demand will follow”—James Shaw, Morrison. The message is clear: New Zealand has incredible potential to lead in sustainability, but we need to act fast and think big. The opportunities are here and let’s make sure we seize them. Join the conversation and let's build a climate-resilient future, together! 🌱 Sustainable Business Council NZ | Environmental Defence Society (EDS) | Climate Leaders Coalition #ClimateAction #NZSustainability #TradePolicy #EnergySolutions #CCBC2024

🌊 Imagine a future where coastal cities like Sydney could be submerged under 2 meters of water by 2100 due to rising sea levels. This scenario, highlighted at #CCBC24, threatens homes, airports, and critical infrastructure. This is just a glimpse into the devastating consequences of climate change. Important insights and key takeaways from the event so far: 🔍 Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) can only offset 0.1% of global carbon emissions. "We are gambling with the livability of the planet." 🌍 “All the solutions we need already exist. It’s the political will and leadership that’s missing,” says Dr. Joëlle Gergis, climate scientist and writer. 🌱“We need true leadership and vision...no more greenwashing. No more weasel words.” 💡 BraveGen is at CCBC 2024 to showcase how we can turn climate action from overwhelming admin into impactful results. We provide businesses with tools and expertise to move from reporting to real action. The solutions are here. Let’s act now to protect our cities and our planet. 🌍 Market Update: Australia Takes a Major Step Forward in Climate Accountability On Thursday the Australian Senate passed a pivotal piece of legislation mandating detailed climate-related risk disclosures. Set to move through the House of Representatives in September, this landmark bill marks a significant advancement in our journey towards a transparent and sustainable future. Key Updates: - Starting January 1, 2025, Group 1 companies are required to unveil comprehensive reports on climate-related risks. - Directors must confirm compliance with this new legislation in their company’s sustainability reports. Why This Matters: This legislation isn't just about compliance—it's a game-changer for net-zero transition. By ensuring that financial stakeholders and markets have a clear view of climate-related risks and opportunities, we're paving the way for informed investments into a low-carbon economy. Looking Ahead: As monumental as this change is, it brings immense opportunities for innovation and leadership in sustainability. We are excited to see how this new era of transparency will drive collective action towards a more sustainable world. Stay tuned as we continue to monitor the impacts of this regulatory evolution.
