How many holidays can you afford? Capital is built up during your working life to live on in retirement. Most of it goes on everyday living but what about holidays? Having a big holiday when you first retire is quite common – but extra holidays are often ruled out because of cost. Yet most retirees die with more money than they had when they first retired. They could have afforded more holidays but no-one told them. If you want to know how much of your retirement money you can afford to spend on holidays then why not take advantage of our offer of a free Preliminary Appointment either in our Richmond or Motueka offices or by video. Anna-May is the Irish one. After graduating from University in Edinburgh her financial career started at the Bank of New York on the Investment Desk. She then gained a place in the acclaimed Scottish Widows, Edinburgh training programme as a Financial Adviser Account Manager where she obtained her UK Financial Planning Certificate and marketed a diverse product range, from insurance to overseas investments. Anna-May discovered a passion for investments and went on to work for an award-winning UK investment firm, rapidly moving up the ranks over her decade of employment in their London and Scotland offices. She became one of the female spokespeople for the company and delivered hundreds of presentations and after-dinner speeches in venues such as at Whitehall Palace, Tower of London and many more throughout the UK, Channel Islands and Ireland, discussing ‘the markets’ and adding in a dollop of Irish humour as she went. She’s also obtained the full New Zealand Financial Adviser qualifications in insurance and investments. She is a member of Financial Advice New Zealand. FINANCIAL ADVISER. Thinking of a reverse mortgage? We can help. A reverse mortgage enables individuals aged 60 and over to tap into their home’s equity, providing additional funds to enjoy their retirement whether that’s for travel, pay medical expenses, home renovations or just make everyday living more comfortable. Crucially, a reverse mortgage allows you to retain ownership of your home. Read more in our blog, or make an appointment with our mortgage team to talk about your situation. https://buff.ly/3UXhUFe

Stuart has two decades of experience as a Mortgage Broker – from helping first home buyers to complex commercial and multi-property investments. He previously owned his own mortgage broking business but simply became too popular and too busy. His attempt at retirement was short lived however, and he became a tutor for NZQA Certificate in Money Management. Joining Castle Trust lets him do something he enjoys but with additional office support. Before Stu became a Mortgage Broker he owned his own hydraulic engineering business. He is a member of Financial Advice New Zealand.

We saw this when online and it made us chuckle. If you don’t select a KiwiSaver fund when you sign up for KiwiSaver, you are automatically placed in a default fund. Many people end up staying in a default fund because they don’t get around to switching or they feel they don’t understand enough about it to make a decision. Right now there are over 300,000 KiwiSaver members in default funds! Shocking. Its really important that you get advice on your KiwiSaver to ensure you're are in the right fund for your risk appetite and time horizon and don't just settle on a default. Why? Quite simply we want you to maximise your nest egg to fund the retirement you dream of. There's no reason to stick with your default provider , we can easily help you. Get in touch today if you want to find out more.

Glyn is the old wise one. He is a financial adviser with 40 years’ experience. Glyn’s financial planning career started with the National Farmers’ Union in the UK before moving on to start up his own financial planning company being qualified in the UK and the Channel Islands. He has provided advice to hundreds of individuals, families, businesses and farms over the years. Prior to that he spent several years working in the Pacific Islands. As a result of this background and investment experience, Glyn spent three years in the 90’s as the UK Government Director on the Board of the multi-million dollar Tuvalu Trust Fund. Glyn’s role is to help clients with ‘big picture’ planning. He is a member of Financial Advice New Zealand and has been awarded the Financial Advice NZ Trusted Adviser mark demonstrating his commitment to qualifications and training at a level higher than that required by NZ law and code. A people person, a lifetime golfer, a voracious reader and a firm believer in the ‘carpe diem’ principle who has worked out that if he sleeps less, keeps fit and eats properly he might stay healthy longer and then die suddenly at 90.
