Our Christmas Shoebox Project gifts are distributed by community charities right across the country who have close relationships with the families who are receiving the boxes. This week, we are highlighting what a few of these charities have said about the families the boxes will help. Today's charity is @Battered Women's Trust , Canterbury who said, “The children that we support through our services are victims of domestic violence. Generally, women and their children who access our safehouse or other safe accommodation only come with a small bag of clothing/personal belongings. Each whānau has different needs, and in some instances, families will stay in our residence for an extended period of time. This, as well as other factors, can make Christmas time a stressful time for our whānau, and when we have the opportunity, we will work to ensure they have all that they need while staying with us.” Make a quick and easy donation to the Christmas Shoebox Project at https://lnkd.in/g98NXb2F

Our Christmas Shoebox Project gifts are distributed by community charities right across the country who have close relationships with the families who are receiving the boxes. Over the next week, we will highlight what a few of these charities have said about the families the boxes will help. First up, is Coast Youth Community Trust who said, “These families are part of a Young Mums group that our Trust runs weekly. All parents are aged between 16 - 22; many of which are solo Mums. They are incredible young women who are doing their best to take care of and raise their children, however, financially, things can be tough being a solo parent at a young age.” Make a quick and easy donation to the Christmas Shoebox Project at https://lnkd.in/g98NXb2F

Our community grants round closed recently, and we are on the hunt for a few extra Catalytic Ambassadors to help us determine which of the 330 charities who applied should receive a grant. We are particularly looking for people in the Horowhenua, Manawatu, and Whanganui areas. Do you think you might be a suitable ambassador? We are looking for people who: * Are independent and not affiliated with any other charities * Are comfortable talking to and interviewing charities about their work and their needs * Are available for about 10 hours (total) of volunteering work between mid-November and the end of February * Have a professional qualification, like an accountant, lawyer, etc. (not compulsory, but reviewing financial information etc is involved). If you are keen, please send us a message to let us know and we can have a chat to you about what is involved.

e It's the 1st of November and there are only 7 more Food for Thought Fridays until Christmas! We're going to stay on the Christmas theme this week because we are living and breathing Christmas at the Catalytic Foundation at the moment! Today's quote is by author Kevin Alan Milne. He wrote, “Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it — you feel it, you know it, you believe it.” Can you feel it? We certainly can at our main distribution centre in Sky City. Items for our shoeboxes are starting to pile up and we are getting ready for the first teams of volunteers to come in. BUT we still need more help! We are desperate to fill all of the requests we have received from charities around the country because we know they have great relationships with the people they help and see where the real need is. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? Donate money today: https://lnkd.in/gXyxAjU5

Thank you to SkyCity Entertainment Group for giving us the opportunity to have a display at their AGM yesterday. We were able to talk to lots of lovely people about our work and encourage them to donate to the Christmas Shoebox Project. Sky City have been amazing supporters of the Catalytic Foundation this year. Thank you!

Thank you to Dunedin Curtain Bank for donating some very cute kids' aprons, tote bags and swimming bags for the Christmas Shoebox Project! These are adorable and we think the kids will love them! It is so heartwarming to see charities reaching out to support the Christmas Shoebox Project. By working together, we can achieve so much more 💕

Thank you to residents at Ryman Healthcare villages around Aotearoa for supporting the Christmas Shoebox Project this year https://lnkd.in/gXyxAjU5
How CUTE is this felted teddy bear? This felted bear was lovingly handmade by a very talented resident at Ryman Healthcare's Dianna Isaac Village in Christchurch. A few lucky children will receive one of these adorable bears in their Christmas Shoebox Project boxes this year. Handmade bears, like this one, represent love being passed down from our older generation to the children of today. We are very grateful for Ryman's support across the country.

It's Food for Thought Friday and there are only 8 more Food for Thought Fridays to go until CHRISTMAS! Yippee!! Can I put my tree up now? Today's quote is “Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It’s discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values.” I think this embodies all that the Christmas Shoebox Project stands for. Thank you to all of our donors who have so generously given to the project. You won't receive anything physical in return for your donation (except a receipt!), but we truly hope you feel the warm spirit of Christmas and community in your heart 💕 We can't do this without you.
