Initially focused on construction, we expanded to serve the insurance industry following the Christchurch earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. A comparison of the Cordell Sum Sure calculator's results with the actual rebuild valuation for a Wellington property showed a big difference. The online calculator generated a sum insured figure of $943,495, which was dramatically different from the actual property rebuild value of $3,600,000 determined by our team of experienced Qualified Surveyors. Had the homeowners relied on the calculator for the sum insured value for their home insurance, they would have been significantly underinsured, resulting in a 74% shortfall in rebuilding costs in the event of a total loss. #CordellSumSure #RebuildValuation #UnderinsuredRisk #HomeInsurance

The Cordell Sum Sure calculator is a common tool homeowners use to calculate the sum insured for their home insurance policy. Unfortunately, it can be inaccurate and provide a figure that is too low. For this Auckland property, the calculator delivered a sum insured figure of $1,399,371.
